Just to weigh in here...

First, I am really thrilled at the prospect of a decent stats program. It is a very welcome addition and the sooner it is online, the better.

Second, I agree that a setup fee is much more palatable than a monthly. Most of my clients are clients my company has developed. Most of them have paid for their hosting for the year as part of our design/development costs. I might be able to swallow an upfront fee for my good clients who really want it, but I wouldn't be able to do that monthly and I can't imagine many of them paying me more just for the benefit of good stats.

But, I'm glad something is coming online soon. I'm starting to get desperate. It's hard to convince clients that they are getting good, quality hits on their site when Webalizer's refer section only gives you 30 returns and all of them but one are from the parent domain. Very frustrating.

Still waiting for a stable version of there beta, they said wait till after the 3rd of next month and see how it is.. We don't want to install something to make the reset of the system unstable.

Was just wondering if we have an update on when Urchin4 is likely to be available ? I understand there has been some testing going on with the beta, and a date was set for sometime after the 3rd May, a couple of weeks ago, any more news ?

Thanks,
David

They are up to beta3 of it now, there still seems to be some issues with it. One that I don't like much is it goes and grabs all logs from every server at 4am and I don't think they have fixed this. I could see it now 4am comes and the urchin server goes to get logs from 500 sites at the least 1mb each.. Talk about a traffic jam on a network or at least killing the urchin server for about an hour or so to take it all in..

I hope they fix this before the final version. They are on beta3 now so it should not be much longer..

Thanks for the continued updates. Has any decision been reached on the pricing structure for Urchin?

Thanks, looking forward to it.

yes, a complete slow-down of the network at 4am your time, would be 9am-10am here, just when all my customers log onto there sites to check it for the morning...disaster if it would all grind to a halt.

I thought it might be time to bring this back up to the top since it has been about two weeks since the last update. Anything new here?

I think I posted in anther thread but here goes..

Psoft said for us not to install 2.3.1 beta and to wiat till the final. They said about 2-3 weeks for that.. There is still some issues in 2.3.1 and I for sure don't want some of them. Like it just deleteing DNS zones by its self.. So I will wait a bit longer before jumping the gun on this one..
