MAJOR problems on Unix

I have no access to my service domain, and half of my sites cannot be reached (no DNS), the others have been gzipped.
All my plans appear to have been deleted.
No FTP access either.
My admin account is reachable, and shows ONLY 1 account (admin) and NO domains and NO plans.
Is this just me or anyone else (everything is on Unix)?

yes, from my admin account.
pinging URLs results in strange responces, some are no dns, some show host as econz.net (which isn't right), my main site alphashock.net just doesn't respond.
h-sphere has ditched me as a user (ramjet2 for service domain), still no ftp.
If no-one else has this problem, last night i set up phpBB... it worked fine but this has happened since...something to do with it?
i will be travelling for the next 5 hours.
Will check forum and ticket then.
Thanks, murray.

submitted new ticket, please act urgently... regardless of whatever caused the problem, i need to get the client domain (securicare.co.nz) restored and their mail active. Is this possible?

If you want fast i could just delete your curent account and setup a new one and give you a month free or we can wait on psoft to find the problem and fix it..

Just not sure if you had backups and stuff on your sites..

The way that this happened means that if i had 1000 customers i would have lost the lot. Imagine trying to recreate that!
That this has happened while i've only got one is actually a godsend, as it is managable.

As I don't know your system, I need to know whether the sites i've lost are recoverable from it by you. (ie: can you restore?)

If you ping the domains i've mentioned you'll find the hostname resolves incorrectly.. the dns is there for some domains but is all f***ed up.
My feeling is it has something to do with mysql tables, as phpBB
and ftp server (which i was testing at the time) both use these, and this is about the time the clients accounts were deleted.
However the service domain account was deleted some 6 hours later when I was asleep, so maybe i was hacked? Your log should show this. You mentioned a PSoft vacuum, when did this happen and what did it affect?
In answer to your offer I need to know what happened here, and whether it can happen again, so I guess waiting on Psoft is the best idea.
But I also need Securicares email functional pronto, is the way you suggested the only way to do this? I do have backups, but i'm not near my computer today... and as i say i wouldn't want to manually recreate everything if i was a bigger fish.

This is a good question. I would feel better knowing that backups are being done as advertised:

http://support.vortechhosting.com/de...php?article=47

And not only that they are being done, but that Matrix is able to restore sites to working condition from those backups. I think this will benefit all of us to have this information. No system is perfect. What happens when the hard drives fail or when software issues cause lost data?

Yes we can problem is we can only restore the full DB ourself. I am trying to see what Psoft can do about doing the parts just for him..

I have never seen H-Sphere do any thing like this before.. I am reaming psoft a new ass right now about this as this is not good at all..

I am as pissed off as ramjet.. Ether way you are getting a few months free.. Unless Psoft can show me 100% you did it but i don't think you did from what you have said and showed me.

Admin...could you elaborate on what you mean by "full db"? Just for his acct. all your resellers or what? It would be good to know the realities of what you are able to restore, how fast and what we or customers should backup themselves. One thing I know from field work is that backups are usually never adequate and you always need them when you least expect it Thanks.
