Thanks.
Quite possibly. If I were you, I would tell your customers that the server(s) will be down for AT LEAST 3 hours. That way if the process goes faster than expected they will be surprised and happy.

Vixen is absolutely correct. I sent out an email to all customers today. In "my" version I said the checkdisk will take a minimum of 3 hours and the control panel upgrade will take 16 hours.

I would much rather look like a hero rather than an a$$hole.

I also gave them an off network site to check issues or email us (just in case the whole network crashes during the upgrade or something really wild)

Not wishing bad luck . . . just been through this enough to know to expect the unexpected.

Best thing to do Cleonard. We wish we did not have to do the check disks at all but as everyone knows, it's some times hard to get around some things with windows. I hope there is not much down time at all with the upgrade but, as always I am sure there is something we missed, did not think about, forgot about or something. This big of an upgrade on 100% servers, it would be super if nothing at all went wrong, but I would it would be a lie to everyone if I said nothing will happen. I can only hope for the best and that we have it planned out the best we can.

As for the posts about 1.1 and 2.0 we can work that out once we get to that point. We have not worked with 2.0 a lot on a live server, and we may be able to run 2.0 on all the servers side by side with 1.1 we just don't know yet. So don't get all up set just yet.

You'll be able to run them side by side without issue as they're designed to work that way.

Well we just got word about a very bad windows side security issue, we are going to check it out tomorrow. Lets hope it's it's not as bad as it looks. If so we may have to put the upgrade off. But to soon to tell, I will let you guys know more tomorrow..

This could affect every H-Sphere host and could cause big issues if Psoft does not fix it ASAP. It more less lets you take over the server with almost no work at all.

But more info to come once we have time to fully check it out.

Will this upgrade affect e-mail at all? I'm getting questions from my clients about that.

Thanks,

Well every server has to be upgraded, mail could be affected but I don't think it will since it's a unix system at least it should not as all we are doing is replacing there script files.

are there going to be somewhat regular updates here so we know roughly how far along the process is per server?

With the process underway; I take it these issues have been ironed out and the upgrades are going ahead as planned?

Well either way we still have to run the check disk but we are still checking on this security issue as well.
