The only way to change mailservers is to completely turn off mail service, then turn it back on. By doing so you would lose all existing mail, mail settings, and mailboxes. You would have to recreate the mailboxes and wait 24 hours for propagation.

mail7, and mail11

How many of the mail servers are being affected by this? I have reports from customers on mail7 and mail11. This problem has been ongoing for the past few weeks. My customers are tired of hearing that we are working on it. I realize that Vortech is not the cause, but you have to be the solution. Vortech is our service provider and as such needs to provide reliable service. This means protecting us and the servers from attacks that cause loss of service. Please don't take this as a rant. I have been a customer for several years, and during that time have been extremely pleased. If this email issue does not get resolved soon, I am going to lose customers. Please do whatever it takes to fix this.

If this can be fixed in 24 hours, great! I have clients leaving for other hosting companies because it is still taking hours to get email.
When I turn it back on which server will be assigned?

Can anyone access the webmail? I tried to give that as an option to my clients but we can't even access that.

What happened with the graylist solution?

What happened with the graylist solution? Didn't work??
Is there any other solution in sight for this? what if someone attacks the other servers? We would be completely unprotected and without mails for weeks? I think that would be the end of our business and Vortech's too. Please inform us about the future of this.

Rest assured that this issue is the top priority right now and the techs are working as quickly as possible to fix the issue permanently.

Hsphere assigns servers dynamically based upon a bunch of factors like load, number of accounts, etc. You won't know in advance which server will be most appropriate in Hsphere's view. It'll probably be a higher number mail server though as those are more likely to be used less.

Down as Well

My customers are reporting they cannot receive email once again. Vortech, any ETA on when it will be fixed?

Also, is there any plan to offer multiple mail servers as backup in case a mail server goes down for extended periods, such as this case? I would think people would be willing to pay a premium for this additional protection. Would be a good value add for your resellers to promote to their customers, and should lead to more $$$ and less support requests for Vortech in the end.

Thanks in advance for any ETA updates to quell screaming customers.

John

OK. I was able to get in and turn mail off and then back on. I setup all the accounts again and now its a waiting game. My question now is ... how can I confirm that we are now on a different server for 100% certainty without waiting 24 hours?

My clients are justifiably very upset with us over this issue - this is beyond frustrating. I've had some issues with some of our other hosting companies, but never any email issues as serious as this.
