Hurricane Frances Report 9/01/04

Vortech/MatrixReseller Service Notice:

Hurricane Frances Report 9/01/04

Hurricane Frances is currently on a projected path to the Central Florida area this weekend.
For the safety of our staff, we will be unavailable by phone from approximately 2 PM Friday, September 3rd to approximately 2 PM Saturday, September 4th Eastern Standard Time. We will continue to have technicians monitoring the entire network and responding to tickets via email both remotely and at our downtown Orlando facility.

Approximate times may vary depending on power outages and any evacuations which may be put into place between now and Friday afternoon. We do expect to maintain all web and email services via our backup generators and UPS systems as we did during Hurricane Charley. Please refrain from calling our phone systems during this time to help keep Florida's phone lines open for Government, power and emergency worker use only.

Thank you in advance for your cooperation,

Vortech, Inc. Staff

Also please take note of our other Data center forums http://66.194.198.60/ and our monitor http://66.194.198.60:8080/ if you see us go down please don't try and call us, it will only tie up needed lines.

I will be going out of the state to keep an eye on all tickets and systems so please if you need anything use the ticket system at vortechsupport.com or post it in our off site forums. It might take me a little time to get to everyone but it will be in this order and could change at anytime:

Making sure all staff members are safe ( Remember I am out of state so I will just be checking up on them all. )
Orlando Network
Orlando Servers
Support Tickets ( Bigger issues will be taken care of first. I am sorry but if your form mail is not work working this just might have to wait bit. )
Billing tickets ( only for users that may be suspended due to the automation of h-sphere )
Kissimmee Network
Kissimmee Servers

Also the time has already went back a bit a little for us. But I think we are still going to cut phones at 2PM Friday just to make sure techs don't have to be on the road unless needed. If this storm takes 24 hours just to get over Florida we are looking at not being back on the phone till maybe Monday, thats even if they work at that point. So again please use the ticket system.

Agreed. Just batten down the hatches and take care of yourselves. If things go awry in the meantime, that's something we can live with, having made the choice to host in a storm-prone region. Once the beast has passed by and you're all safe and sound, then we'll start complaining about our webmail again.

Take care guys and gals, and remember that your personal safety is much more important than a computer or two. Best wishes...

Again? Well, I guess it's saying something that acts of god happen more freqently than the servers going down.

Take care guys, and write a letter to your President, on behalf of all hosting services, to fix this global warming problem!

Stay safe!

Nope.

It's worse :/

Their talking anywhere from a Cat 4-5 slamming the east coast and taking over 24 hours to travel across the state. And due to the size, most places in florida (Central, South, North) will experience at least tropical storm force winds for about 36-48 hours... Not looking fun.
