The issue is if we were to do that it wouldn't fix the issue, the problem is the amount of connections not the hardware.

Is the server being attacked? Why it has this amount of connections

Then what is being done to fix the issue. According to your post Vortech is focusing all its efforts on resolving this issue. I have not seen one single post of what is being done to fix it (the technical side).

why the traffic jumped from 1000 connections to 11,000 connections 4 days ago? is this genuine traffic or the mail7 is under attack?

ok, I've got a bigger problem as well.
sales@xxxx.com on 9/7/07 10:52 AM The e-mail system was unable to deliver the message, but did not report a specific reason. Check the address and try again. If it still fails, contact your system administrator. < fbr02.csee.onr.siteprotect.com #5.0.0 X-Postfix; host mail7.hsphere.cc[216.157.145.27] said: 553 sorry, that domain isn't in my list of allowed rcpthosts (#5.7.1) (in reply to RCPT TO command)> |

enter-sys - I went ahead and moved my client because who knows how long this is going to be going on for. Can you give me an idea of how long it took before the propogation completed?
Update: Within 15 minutes we started getting emails from gmail and yahoo (test emails). Outlook is still looking in the wrong place for the mail so I have to check it from the web based email. Thanks, R Last edited by rheide : 09-07-2007 at 12:18 PM. |

Everyone getting the 553 error will not have the issue anymore a file had been corrupted. This should solve quite a few problems with mail7, there are a few more issues that we are still taking care of. We'll update you again when we make more progress.

Please somebody help me here.
I have a customer that has their website hosted on NT31. They bought another domain that was originally a different site all together. They put the same email address on both sites. However, the email address is for the domain that currently has email setup on Mail7. How do I configure H-Sphere to have the mail for the account on Mail7 to be checked on another Mail Server for the other domain? This was suggested as possible by a tech in a previous post. |

chungmike -
We just went off a suggestion from Dan "Here's a temp fix which I'm sure most of you will not be willing to do but I'm throwing it out there just in case. If you do not have a large amount of mail boxes turn off mail services (just make sure you have all of the emails written down and you have your mail saved) Once this is done turn it back on and you will be on another mail server, just recreate your email accounts. I'm aware that this won't help people who have numerous email account/mail coming in all the time. As soon as this is fixed we'll be updating here. -Dan " This worked for us because we only had 3 email accounts to deal with. BUT make sure you or your client has downloaded all the email before you delete it. -R |

I just tried your suggestion with another email account. I first pinged mail.mydomain.com to get the ip address before turning off. I then turned it off. Then I turned it back on and pinged the mail.mydomain.com to get the new ip address. Guess what? It was the same ip address and same mail server again. What is up with that?
UPDATE: I repeated the exercie 2 more times and still same ip address. Last edited by opt2004 : 09-07-2007 at 02:11 PM. |
