hey you back up gurus... can i run something like retrospect locally to backup the data of my hosted clients on vortech? any thoughts on what i can provide as a reseller to help ensure data backup and recovery for my clients?

You wouldn't be able to use retrospect as an end user really, when it comes to clients I think the best thing to do is just say it's their problem, don't guarantee any backup, make them responsible for them.

I feel for ya...however, you might want to look into some redundancy for your clients...if you have to have it. A VPS,DNS w/ another domain. Regular hosting in a shared environment, at these costs will not prevent downtime. Days of it is not excusable under any, but the most extreme natural disaster, but some is gonna happen. Also...this is biased, but I have always found unix to have better reliability for hosting... even here. |

Well we got a part in today we were waiting on from sun. We will be replacing NT38 tomorrow or wed. to take it off the hardware it's on now. The system did not have issues before it's fall out so we are not 100% sure what it's issue is.
We are just going to fully replace the system with a new one. We will post when we are ready to do this, this should total fix the issue.
