Since webmail is changing will you redirect or will a new A name need to be created for those of us who did that.
I am curious because it looks like you cannot remove an A name once created. Am I wrong? Leave it to hsphere.... Wax ON, but not Wax OFF. |

Confused, once webmail is changed, why aren't you going to just delete the custom A record for webmail.yourservicedomain.com and then recreate it. Custom A records are at the bottom of DNS manager. Built-In DNS records do not have a trash can but custom A records like webmail.yourservicedomain.com do.

hmmmm cumstom records you've created can be deleted in H-Sphere no problem. E-manager then click edit next to the DNS Zone that you added the A record in, should be at the bottom of the list then with a trashcan next to it.

We dont necessarily plan on removing all the old IPs.. eventually we will maybe. Webmail only needs one IP, we may leave it as is, who knows. If we do update the IP, we will probably leave the old IP as well and then forget to ever remove it. So stay tuned!
![]() PS the new IPs are only active on the machines we announce. |

These IPs were migrated today. REMEMBER - BOTH the old and new IPs will still function, so you will experience no downtime. We do highly suggest that if your script uses the IP address, that you update it to use the new IP or the DNS name.
mysql1 -> 216.157.145.41 mysql2 -> 216.157.145.42 mssql -> 216.157.145.60 mssql1 -> 216.157.145.61 mssql2 -> 216.157.145.62 mssql3 -> 216.157.145.63 The servers on the new IPs will be kept on record here: http://www.matrixreseller.net/forum/...ead.php?t=6529 |

admin,
Nameservers must be on separate subnets or they will be rejected. |

Well... we really dont plan on updating nameservers for a little bit at least, since its a major undertaking to rewrite the zone files etc... Gonna get the rest of the servers under control first.

REGARDING IP Migration:
I am trying to get an update on what is required for those domains using outside DNS pointing to a dedicated IP. The original annoucement indicated it was up to us to locate the info. Can't seem to find it. Below is the Snipet in the original announcement of 3_12_04. "Also, ensure that if you are using outside DNS that you pay close attention to the forum for information on when your server will be updated. When your dedicated IP Address is updated, we will be leaving the old one on the server for a few days to ensure that there will be no down time." Thanx. |

Well...
When we actually changed amachine we make ap ost inthe News and announcements forum.. IE: http://forum.vortechhosting.com/showthread.php?t=7477 was posted yesterday. This is only the 2nd server to have its IPs migrated... And the list will be posted today. Also, you can always get your IP from logging into the user's control panel and clicking on "domain settings". |
