Have you never heard of the word COPYRIGHT?? If the person who steals the content refuses to remove it you can (1) go to their host (which I have done for my business site and the Vortech Hosting site and had the images removed), (2) go to their upstream provider (I have also done this for the Vortech Hosting site and had the images removed) or (3) sue them for copyright infringement (I have never had anyone push it to this point YET). You can not just take something just because it is online and use it as your own. It's ILLEGAL.

yeah really, I'd like to see someone copy the Amazon site, and see what happens to them!

I'm bummed, the site was pulled before I could look at it. I would have liked to have seen how poorly Matrix' stuff was ripped off.

Kind of reminds me of a recent post that was clearly a poor ripoff of Ebay - complete with 'Buy it Now' - ah, some people are shameless!

My guess is that they subscribe to the belief to not "reinvent the wheel" - when they can steal it for free.

I believe "plagirism" of any kind is illegal in the US, yes copyrights too, but it is a pretty serious matter, students even get huge court fines against them for it.

the problem is that web browsers make stealing so gosh darn easy. that's why I love ASP/PHP - no one's gonna steal my code!

This is all really related to the current MP3/DiVX debacle. Most people perceive virtual content as having no value (because it can be copied a million times with no additional cost).

Actually it falls under copyright laws and within the US, UK and Canada who have fairly reasonable cyber crime laws chances are legal action would be effective as well, though legal action is 99% of the time not required.

Some steps that can be taken include

get the site listed on here http://www.pirated-sites.com/

Contacting the Hosting provider most of the time this will get the site shut down fairly quickly.

Luck fo rus we even hosted it just made it easier but you can get a site shut down at any host if they have 1/2 a brain and look at the 2 sites...
