I need to setup a server with SSL and JSP support for home use.
It will not host any sites or anything. I will use it only to communicate with some other server and I will only use it for 6 weeks and it won't be up 24/7 (I will only use it when I need to use it). What is the fastest way to setup a server? I haven't done that in years (RH 7 and Win NT)... and I don't wonna spend a week seting it up .Which OS should I use? Any other suggestions (remember that I need SSL and JSP)? |

Well unless you own a spare Windows Server licenses, your probably best off just going with Redhat (well Fedora probably) SSL and JSP will pretty much run on anything anyway.

Sad, but true What about SuSe, Mendrake and other Linux distributions? Maybe FreeBSD or OpenBSD? |

There's really not a huge amount of difference between them .. pick one and see if you like it
.. if not install another and try again. Redhat does at least have an "enterprise" version which is perhaps more suited to be setup as a pure server. |
