Questions on @Mail

Have a couple of questions on @Mail, hope someone can help.

1. I notice that even after deleting the emails using @Mail, the mailbox quota remains the same, seems like the mails are not actually deleted? But when I try using Outllook to download, the deleted mails cannot be found? Like in the case of one account, it says I've got some 20MB of mails ... but I just can't find it anywhere. Something to do with the IMAP?

2. Sending out mails from @Mail ... sometimes the sent mail will appear in the "Sent" box ... sometimes it just disappears totally ...

when you logon what Interface are you using. Advanced is the default but Classic has fewer problems.

One thing that you could check is if your deleted messages are in the Inbox/Trash folder. You'll need to delete it from there to see a change in your quota. You can set @mail to clear out the trash folder automatically or on logout.

Another thing to consider is how IMAP deletes messages... it doesn't. Typically, when a message is deleted with IMAP, it is only marked as deleted. You'll have to purge or erase it to make the deletion permanent. That means if you're using IMAP in Outlook, you may have a setting that hides deleted (but not purged" messages. What version of Outlook are you using?

Also keep in mind that @Mail has a known (and reported) bug that you can't just check mark the emails and click delete. You actually have to move them to "Erase Selected" in order to delete them. I'm not sure when they're going to fix this issue. I believe Matt's reported it to them several times.

I was on webmail totally ... I think what Carly mentioned is exactly the case ... I did not open the messages but just click on the checkboxes ... they appear deleted ... but quota still taken up. So what can I do now to remove all the deleted mails? use outlook to download?

check them all, use the drop down and selset "erase selected" and then click "move" button. they should dissappear. if you still see them, (if you can still ckeck a box) they are not deleted!

do this for every folder, sent, trash, etc.

and I believe you will be ok.

also, I believe it's possible that quotas are 24 hour averages like out main stats? someone know for sure?

If you're talking about the Quota shown in H-Sphere, it will be 24 hours before you see the new disk space used. If the mails are still showing up in Webmail, then they're not deleted, so you have to do the entire "Move" thing that tracewebspace explained.

You should also be able to download them with a Pop3 client to take them off of the server, as long as you don't have the "Save a copy on the server" box ticked.

I've always seen the quota shown in HSphere drop within 20 minutes when deleting messages in @mail. But it's always a good idea to give HSphere more time to update the numbers.

yap! Hsphere update quota really fast .. usually within 5 mins ... that's what I have seen happening before ... still testing the @Mail extensively to see what other problems there are ... (since I'm already at it

anyone having problem with attachments of not more than 5MB? I notice that sending out emails with attachment, say 1-2MB, tend to have the problem of the recipient getting multiple copies of the same email, usually like 2-3 times.
