'Q' for our US Cousins

For all you clever folk....... to me Spam is Spam..... but I'm starting to receive 'Spam' with -

Quote:
Under Bill s.1618 TITLE III passed by the 105th US Congress this letter cannot be considered Spam as long as the sender includes contact information and a method of removal. To be removed, hit 'REPLY' and type 'REMOVE' in the subject line.

Is this true of just another load of Spam!

It's not true. If you didn't request it, it's SPAM. Have you tried reporting it to SpamCop??

Angry

I believe that was a proposed bill that was never passed. Good luck w/ spamcop. I get plenty overseas bizarre inhuman SPAM it's scary. Will be eliminating much more of it soon tho. It's totally mindless...no normal homo sapien would respond to any of it. However, it's not illegal to send SPAM according to any of the laws out there which I'm aware, so why they include that note is stupid. Just against an ISP's policies.(In most cases.) 3 yrs. ago some fool may have believed that note held weight, but I can't believe people still send the same junk. I hope someone comes up with an agreed protocol soon because SPAM is ruining the internet.

mresell:

I didn't believe it, but not being 100% upto speed on US law, thought it best to ask the question.
Your right though SPAM is running riot, I've had a huge increase lately.
The most annoying one is from a hosting directory that 'kindly reminds me that my account is due for renewal' and that I should enter my CC details etc... to renew it - No only have I never advertised or contacted them, but do they really think that people are that crazy? (er don't answer that... I bet some sucker has completed it ....)

I get on every other day from a hosting company wanting to host my site. LoL If they can see my site it is obvious that I have a host.
