Weird behavior of htpasswd

I password protected folders for 3 customers with a program called ezpass.

When I call the protected folder the password window comes up. I type in my info, click ok and the password window comes up again. I type in my info again and it takes me to the folder.

Question: Why do I need to do it twice? The behavior is the same for all customer accounts. I used that script on other servers and it worked properly. So I guess the script is all right. Something must be different on Vortech servers.

I know I could use webshell but I would like to understand why it's not working right.
