question regarding domain names
I have a Cypher plan and I am wondering on the limit of domain names I can host.
At the HSphere plan comparison page, it says "Unlimited" http://www.matrixreseller.com/plans/index.php 1a) Is this correct? Or is there some other kind of charge that applies? Then I have a small question re: Control Panel users. On the Reseller FAQ it says "With your reseller plans, will each account or user I add will have access to his own CP account? Answer: Each reseller account includes unlimited domain hosting for each user. A user is defined as someone with control panel access. Each plan has a limited number of users with access to the control panel. While each user can create unlimited domain accounts who's domain has FTP, email etc. access " So, with the Cypher Plan it says I can have 15 "Billable Accounts" with each additional one costing $4. 1b) Is that $4 a month for each additional "Billable Account"? 2b) Are Control Panel Users considered "Billable Accounts," even if the "Without Billing" option is selected? I am a little confused. I have been adding my clients' domains to my main reseller plan, and adding them as Control Panel users, even though in most cases they do not need control panel access. But I do want all of them to have the Webalizer Resource and Email control for their domain. 3a) The best way to ask this I think is can you compare the difference between a 'Billable Account' and an account added via the "Unlimited" domains hosting? 3b)Most of my clients have small websites that do not need most of the goodies that come with the Control Panel (MySQL, etc). Is there a way to make them part of the "Unlimited domains" pool but still have full email and web statistics functions? I apologize if it seems I am asking the same question repeatedly, I am just trying to get a grip on this amazing system. I also apologize if I have posted this in the incorrect place, please direct me where it should be if this is the wrong thread. Thanks so much! Info-me |

yes unlimited, however you're charged for bandwidth/server space. $4 one off charge. contol panel allocation is billable account with/without billing turned on.
Basically setup a nonbilling plan and open 1 account in it that you will access. Manually add all clients who don't need there own cp to this, manually set up there email etc, and bill them manually. Your other accounts can be given to people who do need cp access. ![]() |

Adding Domains for Dummies needed
I would also like to add domain names for people who do not need a control panel. I read and re-read the DNS configuration help file but cannot make much sense out of it. I am in desperate need of some walk through how to add domain names and point them to a subdirectory.
Any volunteers please? I'd highly appreciate it... |

Just add the domains to your service domain account and everything should be setup regarding DNS etc, alternatively you could just create a new plan and sign up to it and use that to add domains etc for the people that won't need a full control panel. the only problem with this would be if you wanted to give your clients FTP access to the website. hmm, to add on to the question... =)
does it mean that if i setup and sign up a plan and use it to manage all the clients who do not need CPs, then I can only upload their files in and only through this plan ? So once I ftped into this account, i can see all the different directories for the different domains ? |

Yes thats correct, if you want your users to have FTP directories of their own and full access to it then the idea I posted above won't really work for you sorry.

If you set them up on a unix based account, you can setup sub-ftp accounts and only grant them access only to their own folders. Its very easy, see: http://matrixwebhosting.net/tutorial...subaccount.htm ..and you would still be able to access ALL of the users web folders from your main FTP user account. You cannot do this on windows based plans though.

By the way I am on UNIX and I know how to set up sub ftp accounts. I also know that everything counts toward space and bandwidth but since some customers have only a couple pages that is not an issue.
Here is were I have my blackout: Quote:
How do I add a domain without making them a user with control panel? Thanks |

Thanks, that was easy enough. I did not dare to do anything in that section because I was unsure how it works. Maybe it was too easy :-)
