Not sure what's going on, but mail is certainly acting up lately!
The reason SA is showing the word 'Subject' so many times is because each time you go into the SA config and make changes or add a new user to the white/blacklist, another 'Subject' gets added to your subject line. Every so often I ask for a tech to trim down that subject line for me... a bummer, yes, but it works. I've asked many times for them to put the form field back in the SA config page so that I can edit that line myself - it used to be there back in the old days when we could create our own subject line but it has long since been removed. Must have a been a good reason it was removed.

make matters worse

To top it all off, vortech goes and deletes your old messages!

This was done again and I'll say it every time - I HATE WHEN YOU DO THAT!

I understand all the problems vortech suffers with e-mail. I just don't understand WHY you empty our inboxes. I have paid for allocated space, why does it matter if the space is used for web pages or email?

I know under the TOS vortech has every right to do delete my old messages, but the overall mail situation sucks and is getting tiresome.

I can only agree with the previous posts. I have also been a loyal and satisfied customer since 2002 and service has always been important for Vortech, but it seems this has changed lately. They still reply to my tickets, but do NOT solve the problems. And customers are angry and leaving! I am sure they are aware of the many problems (mail delays, mails bouncing, lost mails), but nothing is been done about it. I only get the typical answers like "who are you sending to" or "that is their problem". At least they could link to this thread! Is this Vortechs policy right now? Why? I think most clients were with Vortech because of its service. And indeed, why dont other providers have the same problem? That means a solution is feasible... or not? Is there still hope for us Vortech-clients???

I've got clients screaming about email problems as well, particuarly having their emails blocked by Comcast, AT&T and AOL. I have started moving customers off Vortech and will have to move more or lose them if this continues.

I've used spam blockers before and none do the job right I'd rather get all email then educate my email editor in this case windows mail to block what I tell it is spam... the problem with spam has got worst over the past few months .. over the past week bounced mails have gone over the top.. I'm not getting mail I know people sent and which was essential I've just realised how bad it is and my new client thinks I'm ignoring him and now I'm having to use gmail <grimace> I was about to write out a ticket (hate the fact I can't click to send a ticket btw from the control panel but have to fiddle around finding my logins for support each time) when mail about three days ago finally started working again too... It was weird I have quite a few plans ( I don't resell they are all my sites) and one email addy from one site from each different plan (that i get email from) was not working .... so are we back on track with this then?

What can I do on the control panel in my settings that will help? I get a lot of emails spoofed where they use the from and to... i now get a lot of returns (this past week) I get more spam in an hour than I used to in a week this last year...

Does vortech have any tutorials on settings we can set (apart from using the spam filter in the mail control panel.. as i said I don't trust those things ... even the windows spam filter when told something is ok does not always do the right job.. .but it was working quite well until recently.. but I see this thread http://forum.vortechhosting.com/show...117#post108117 which is quite old .... I could follow those intructions but they are worthless as vt does not employ the settings... what you can do instead as admin says is just double dutch to me ....I don't know the steps to use... the thread is so old is it relevent any more?.... I need some help... or my email is going to be come worthless.. whats the point of having a domain if you can't use the addy?

help

Tina

OMG, it must be Armageddon! In the past two days, I've had five clients (including us) complain that they received hundreds of emails that are bounce backs from someone who is spoofing their email address (did Vortech's servers get compromised?), four clients said that they can't deliver to MSN, Comcast, etc, one said that his emails aren't being delivered to domains with .NET extensions, and another said that they couldn't send email from 7am-4:30pm yesterday.

What in the blankety blank blank is going on with email delivery?

not hundreds more like dozens... but it's very tiring to deal with this ... can support please explain (more simply please) what is happening... what we can do indivdually... what settings we can implement ... anything else we can do.. what they are doing .. please... I have a lot going on with a move at the moment but when I'm back online next week I'll be putting a ticket if the problem is still there... since there seem no clear cut answers here. I'm not complaining I just want some help... when all is said and done... I still prefer this hosting to any I've had before and why I'm still with them six years later.. I even forgo my publishing with fpse (i DO NOT use the bots) I just find fpse easier to publish with than ftp... in order to stay with them. And when I do get a legit bouce back I don't know cos i can't keep checking all of them... Also one other thing I noticed I got an email from my bank (a legit one I'd asked them something) and soon after with other of my domains I got emails looking very similar... it's happened with paypal too I'm not talking about the one's one gets all the time... I can't explain that very well it just looks like something knows I'm communicating and some robot attempts to sending something similar either that or it's just happening at the same time... I'm rambling... anyway hope this is sorted by the time I'm back online next week...I'd like to understand what that SPF thing is we can do but no one has said anything in reply...

Tina

I added the SPF and it did not help at all. Comcast still blocks most of my accounts.

1500? I thought our email limit was less than that per day. Has anyone considered spending about $2 a month and using an email relay service such as authsmtp? It doesn't appear that the situation will ever get better at VT so perhaps we should consider other alternatives.

Apart from the above mentioned, I now am getting from some people, and others are getting from me, mails where it seems that the attachment is incorporated in the mail (full of text garbage and weighing MB's). Is this caused by the same problem?

ANY RESPONSE FROM SUPPORT???

the 1500 is not messages they sent - random spams coming back to them.
