Hey guys and gals --
Just letting all of you know that we are aware of the problem with Mail7. Josh is hard at work finding a solution and hopefully we'll have good news to post up later on today. Update #1: This doesn't seem to affect anyone using Port 2525 to send mail. If you are using Port 25 for SMTP, change it to Port 2525. However, we're still working on the inbound mail problem. Update #2: Those of you who want a workaround to the problem can read Dan's post here. Please read the post in its entirety as we will not be held responsible for anything that happens if you try this fix, specifically, the fact that all your email and email account settings will be deleted. Also note that the change is not instant due to DNS propagation, and this workaround should only be used as a last resort!

Yes outgoing mail using 2525 seems to be working fine now. Surely Josh will solve the inbound issues soon. Thank You

Going on Four Days
Mail7 has been having problems recieving mail now for what four days? So now with the holiday weekend is there any chance it will be fixed before tuesday?

Yes i am really suprised about this issue. I cannot assure that problems has been for four days, but surely the last 40 hours SMTP has been down almost all the time. My customers were receiving just a few mails a day. I suppose there is an explanation and i know Josh has been working hard trying to resolve the issues. But it was not enough and i really cannot understand how Vortech leave an issue of this kind unattendant during two nights. Also i would expect Votech preparing a new server for moving mail7 (as it was done last year with mail11). Again, surely there is an explanation and hope techs give us some detalis that would help us understand why this is happening. But for my cusomers is too late i have been the last 12 hours moving them to another mail server before they lost confidence in our service.

I have had three emails bounce back with the message below. The emails originate from a script on NT31 and then are sent to another email account on a Vortech mail server.
*************** Hi. This is the qmail-send program at forward.hsphere.cc. I'm afraid I wasn't able to deliver your message to the following addresses. This is a permanent error; I've given up. Sorry it didn't work out. <emailaccount@mydomain.com>: Sorry, I wasn't able to establish an SMTP connection. (#4.4.1) I'm not going to try again; this message has been in the queue too long. |

If the account where the script sent the email is in mail7, this may be raleted to this issue.

the mail account that was being sent to is on mail7, which is bouncing back to me.

This happens all the time. I have been reporting this error type for over 1 to 2 months sporadically. For a long time, support just claimed it was not their problem. I submitted a ticket on this yesterday and again today. The response is "One or more of the Level 3 guys are still working on it."
