Unlimited Space
Dear All,
With the Hosting Business taking new faces every now and then...We have started getting enquiries for UNLIMITED SPACE HOSTING. Even a small client wants to have a hosting with support for UNLIMITED SPACE Seems, there are quite a lot of companies offering this. Is this going to be the future ? what are the pros and cons ? How do we resellers going to tackle this situation ? A good discussion on this will be helpful ! |

I agree that UNLIMITED sounds good, but there is the fine print.
Yahoo hosting is now unlimited, but you have to follow certain rules. The rules are not stated on the information page, but here's a link to their disclaimer: http://smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/unlimited/ Personally, I'd rather have something like Easyapps that installs popular programs easily, a click to submit to search engines button, and an easier to use shopping cart program. |

Quite interesting.. the terms and the meaning they give for disc space is a BIG JOKE. This is nothing but CHEATING the customers...with the term UNLIMITED
Disk space: If you use your services consistently with the Terms of Service and these paragraphs, your site can grow as large as necessary to meet your small business needs, but to ensure a great experience for all, we will place some constraints on how fast you can grow. The vast majority of our customers' sites grow at rates well within our rules, but our abuse controls may cause a brief delay while we evaluate if expansion is appropriate. ----------------- thanks for clarifying it Siv |

Yes. "Unlimited' hosting is really a farce. They hosting company bets you won't ever use nearly enough space to cause a problem.

Which in todays day and age of virtualised servers and multi terabyte SAN arrays really isn't an issue.
