Internal Linking - Good or Bad?
Okay I accept that some people don't give a $$beep for Google's PR system.... however the majority do - so for them
![]() How would you feel if your site got a PR5 from Google? Excited - pleased? Before I go one, take a look at this site -> http://www.treatment-for.com Pretty basic......? But it has a PR 5! Everyone (including me!) knows that content is King! yet...... this site only has five articles - that's right five.... add to that - a Google search bar In addition it also has a link directory with around 100 links pointing to the site....So how did it get a PR 5? My humble opinion..... via a little technique I keep trying to drum home to everyone -> an excellent internal linking structure. Don't misunderstand me here... I still sing the virtues of good white hat SEO, but thought this site would be of interest and certainly serves as a great example of what can be achieved. You can achieve similar results to http://www.treatment-for.com - try it.... Google updates around every couple of months of the old PR... give it a whirl - you've nothing to loose ![]()

Congratulations on your success, would say getting a PR of 5 is pretty good.
My experience is that one can get up to a 5 based on properly written pages and a few quality backlinks. Moving up to a 6 can be somewhat more difficult, its like there's a barrier one has to break through there or something. From a quick glance at the site I would say the two things that are helping the most are pages that follow Google guidelines and quality backlinks. I see nothing that would get you penalized, and you have properly written titles, descriptions, and keywords. The text/keyword to total page ratio is very good. You can have all the content in the world but if the bulk of your pages is made up of javascripts, images, or unnecessary markup it just won't do you any good. You could add some alt text containing keywords to your images if you wanted. The biggest factor in the PR5 is most likely the several dozen decent quality backlinks the site has, one of which is from a PR8 site and one is from a PR7. I have a site that has one backlink and about 8 pages of content and it has a PR of 4. I don't really know why, but I'm not going to complain. For keeping up with SEO techniques and Google there’s a couple of sites I find worthwhile. WebmasterWorld is pretty good. http://www.webmasterworld.com/ And Matt Cutts blog is a great place to keep up with Google. http://www.mattcutts.com/blog/type/googleseo/ |

Thanks - but it's not my site. I was simply using it as an example to help others learn that internal linking can be successful.
