It's funny I associate Aaron with this one guy, and I can picture it as clear as day, but I'll be darned if I can figure out from where . . . some TV show or movie I'm sure . . . just can't come up with it.

hey, here's an off topic for this thread (is that even possible???) my dell laptop (ispiron 1150) just started acting wierd the past two days... my built in wireless somtimes doesn't show up on boot (or in devices) and then for no reason it will lock up -- does this sound like anything new floating around or just a cheap POS laptop that only lasted 18 months.

I haven't heard of anything that could float around doing that. Being that its a laptop, there may be some thermal damage. I would just reinstall your OS and hope for the best.

Off topic, yeah that's funny. Heat could be an issue for sure. That one has a vent on bottom, I believe. If it is your wireless locking up, may also just be a bad driver. Maybe the wireless has issues or it is failing. If you disable the wireless does this stop the lockup? Alot of the internal wireless suck anyway. The newer intel/centrino seem pretty good for this compared to others tho. Definitely want to determine what's causing a freeze. Just make sure it is a real freeze. I have seen wireless do this tho.

With wireless it's hard to tell though... if it's only freezing up at one location, your neighbor may have gotten some new electronics that are blowing you off.

If it's a heat issue, I saw a "lap cooler" at Staples the other day for use with laptops. Didn't really look at it but I it's supposed to cool your lap from excess laptop heat. Hight help with heat being blown out the bottom with no where to go but up.

wired nic appears to be working fine... gotta find where to update the wireless driver -- some time when the wireless antenae is working perhaps.

goofy thing is sometimes it locks up when i pick it up... like when the case flexes or something...

who knows.
