CP Maintenance 3/24/06

On Friday, 3/24/06 we will be performing maintenance on our Control Panel database. The maintenance will require taking the Control Panel offline while we perform a complete dump and restore on its database. This maintenance is required in order to remove whitespace and reorder the database pages.

The maintenace will begin at 10PM EST on 3/24 and will last 3 hours.

This maintenance will not affect your domains. All web, mail, and database servers will remain active during the procedure.

International?

Just as most of your emailed notices now include UTC times for us non-US-based folks, could you consider doing dates as well?

IE 3/24/06 ==> 24/Mar/06 or mar/24/06 etc. This saves confusion over dates in the first 12 days of the month eg.
5/4/06....

just a thought...

You know . . .

Military time along with UTC, several date formats and the day of the week in several languages would really be handy.

Can you give us the downtime estimation in minutes in addition to hours also?

soon to be banned . . . Chris

Boot made me do it!

Tick Tock Tick Tock.. The down time should be less than 10800 seconds if you would like we could break that down to millaseconds. We also have plans to start doing work on the day after sunday but before monday. See yea there.

We're not and we dont! We prefer clarity over tradition!
Ouch - opened a can of worms there. didn't mean to step on the toes of the format-ists, second-ists and other unit-ists out there.

It was just a thought - the internet is a world without borders (in theory) and the client base ain't all local. In fact the original post had 'Friday' in it so I could work out when the maintenance is *really* going to happen (11am Saturday).
Seriously - I know what EST is - but I have no idea when or if you guys have daylight saving time. Dates are not so important but it would be really useful if you could stick times in UST as well as your local time.
It's funny - I made the same request on a Tucows forum and had half a dozen 'yeah - great idea' posts from all over the world - and they started including UST in all their status notices within a few days. Here I make the same sort of request and folks just pop up to take the piss.... I think I'll just crawl back under my rock and brood... (:-\

Its taking longer than anticipated to re-import the database. The import does not give any kind of progress indication, but I wouldn't think it would be too much longer.

The import process errored. It is recoverable, but the process is going to require more time. I apologize for the inconvenience.
