While looking at them on atmail?
I tried to send myself some spam (the only html embedded email i have, but the spamfilters got it!!!! HOORAY!!!! Specifically its embedded swf (flash) files i can't see, which show up on my outlook express, but not in atmail. Would it be stripping them, or just incapable of showing them? |

actually, the spam got through! BOOO!
So html embedded emails are ok (it showed up fine), except for embedded swf files in them which don't show. Can this be made not so? |

Well, I wouldn't ever expect for a flash file to work too well in email anyhow. We're lucky to get HTML email as far as I'm concerned, so it's probably the way @mail interprets the message.
Because remember that @mail is still in a browser, so you would think that anything capable of displaying in a browser would work with @mail, so either when you forward it it gets messed up, or @mail does something to the message before displaying it. I would never rely on @mail to be a top line tool for email - remember it's really just a web based system for those on the go, not a multimedia powerhouse ![]() |

It may well filter HTML somewhat to make it a little safer ie Javascript, things that use the <imbed> tag etc etc.
I'd guess and say its probably working as designed. |

the source seems to have replaced <EMBED> with <DEFANGED_EMBED,
meta with <DEFANGED_meta, and <OBJECT> with <DEFANGED_OBJECT. Would this be a deliberate security measure? |

maybe it's a known issue/feature - try http://webbasedemail.com for info. Maybe they have something in their forum.
In fact, try this post - http://forum.atmail.com/showthread.p...light=embedded Edit: Actually, do a search for 'HTML' and you'll find a bunch of references to blank HTML messages, which may give you some answers to your problem. Maybe there's some update that can be applied. Last edited by jmbeach : 10-05-2003 at 08:37 PM. |

i wrote to them, and this is what they said......
.................................................. ....................... I'm afraid to say that the tags 'embed' and 'object' are subject to being defanged. This is done as a security measure that stops emails with suspicious content from accessing users cookie files, thus accessing possibly sensitive information about a user. You can disable the "de-fanging" of these tags by editing the ReadMsg.pm file, locating the line: s/<(META|APP|SCRIPT|OBJECT|EMBED|FRAME|IFRAME|BASE|B ODY)(\s|>)/<DEFANGED_$1$2/gi; ...and in your case removing OBJECT and EMBED. .................................................. .................................... .................................................. ..................................... O well. Spot on deducing brangwyn ![]() Does anyone know if there is another way to make swfs show outside of using these tags? |
