My clients are getting my disk space usage to 3 Gigs.
Is there a custom plan that can be created in this case or I will have to pay 5 sents per each additional MB above 3 Gigs?

Currently the reseller plans I know of only go up to 3gigs. The 3 plans over Zion give you more traffic or Cold Fusion but are still capped at 3 gigs. You could order a second plan if you don't want the overage fees.

yeah, the typical recommendation is to add on additional Cypher plans, since they have the best breakdown/cost structure.
You'd have to move some customers over and maintain multiple admin panel logins, but in the long run it would save you some $ considering a Cypher at $35 can give you disk space you'd pay $75 for if you pay a nickel per MB. Plus you get the extra stuff that comes with the plan. |

Isn't that weird?
Can I do something to make someone at vortech create bigger plans?
Should I transfer to a dedicated server then?

If you go dedicated you don't have advantage of cluster servers. Unless you want to start adding those
overages were never intended for this usage. Moving customers or plans to another svc domain sucks tho because as far as I know there is not a good way to do it. The hsphere pdf's tell you a way via shell, but don't know if it works or if it can really be done. The manuals have things that I have found to be inaccurate. Brangwyn I believe described a way to set up another svc domain under an acct. It may still be on the board, but if not. Brangwyn or somebody else still might know a creative way to do this. ![]()

Are we stuck here???
Does that mean that we are stuck here for good???
Is that a bad idea to suggest that high disk usage resellers will be able to get good prices for the hosting? Or maybe creating servers specialy for them (in case the reseller justyfies the price of the installation)... I believe that better servers and better band width will allow us to sell more MB....

First of all, we've been asking for a long time for updated plans for various things, so that is probably not an option.
We've also been asking for a more dedicated-like shared hosting for those of us who want a step up from the shared pool here without paying for a dedicated box. Going fully dedicated isn't generally an option if you like the managed hosting. If you're good with a web server, and don't mind picking one or the other (windows/unix) you could certainly find plenty of dedicated hosts out there that could offer you more space like you want. I really don't think it's a big deal having multiple acct's if you want the convenience of HSphere, plus the cost is justifyable. We've already asked for add-on disk space and bandwidth, but apparently it won't work with HSphere, plus Brad won't budge on the overage costs. |

Here is the thread I was referring to. It was landiserve who posted this. If you purchased other accts. It might work to tie them together. Hsphere has created a limited model with the billing and svc domain limitations(allocated vs actual is a problem too), but unless Matrix is counting on overages for everyone(I hope not
) I think other plans will have to happen. Admin has said that he is working on some options for some time. I believe the only thing that is a problem for everyone is consistent pricing. Everyone knows you cannot run a business well w/out consistent pricing or cost. So what happens is cost vary too much and it makes it near impossible to correctly figure what too charge, unless you base it on your maximum cost which would be overages. Since these would be ridiculous to use you end up with a mess. I think 2 things.1. Consistent balanced resource upgrade path needs to happen. 2. Upgrade path needs to expand http://www.matrixwebhosting.net/foru...rvice+ domain

This sidetracks a bit, but... VPS may eliminate some shared resource issues, but I wonder how dedicating actual physical resources, namely ram will really work. Especially on windows. Will actual performance really be better? Granted there are less users per server ![]() |

Yeah, that's basically what the idea was... less users per server, still within the HSphere cluster, but only available to users who were paying the premium for it. The idea being that we could get out of the general pool, and maybe away from some users who cause havoc on some of the servers.
Don't know if it would entail doling out a percentage of resources per user, or just a limit of users per box. The idea really never came to fruition ![]() |

Here is the page with *all* of the available plans on it:
http://cp.hsphere.cc:8080/psoft/serv...mpare_way.html For some reason they havent made them available on their site yet. |

Wait until H-Sphere supports Dedicated machines, I would hope Brad comes up with something then to allow us all to basically have our own full box to ourselves (at a premium of course).
Many of the matrix plans above Zion have more than 3GB in them as well http://www.matrixwebhosting.net/foru...=&threadid=531 http://www.matrixwebhosting.net/foru...=&threadid=502 imo "Matrix" plan is the best of that bunch. Quote:

I think vps in hsphere now is just for unix right? Also no cp interface for admin stuff. Shell only. I guess I was wondering what the real world performance gains would be. |

The main advantage woudl not be performance really, but flexibility. You would have control over what is installed and offered.

Thanks for links. I have to say, to me, it does not make sense to use a buy in bulk model(vs sell pre-established plans)and have plans go up the way they do. The percentages seem very inconsistent. Not trying to complain. Just seems very weird.
