CF1 and ColdFusion 12.16.2005

We are in the process of repairing the CF extensions on CF1. ETA is unknown. Non CF sites are mostly unaffected, but may be up/down a few times for reboots/iisresets. When we have more information we will post it here.

Brad is re-installing Cold Fusion right now. This may be a bigger issue than we thought. We should either have it up or know for sure within 30 minutes.

CFMX is back up, but the system will not work with any of the XML files that hold the CF DSNs. We have tried 8 days worth of backups and CF will not start using any of the old files.

Anyone with a DSN on CF1 will need to resubmit their information in the form of an email to support@vortechhosting.com so they can be re-added to the server.

We had it up and CF MX 6.1 went back to it's old ways. We are upgrading to CF MX 7 now but it also seems ot be having the same issues as 6.1 was so we are waiting on macromedia to find out whats up.

do we have any idea what caused this ? because from a technical point of view it's almost impossible to find a solution if we have no idea of the cause.

No idea, and Macromedia is NO HELP at all. We won't have time to explain what happened until after its fixed, so keep checking here for updates.

thanks Craig. It's almost midnight here in England and I have had a long week so I am going to crash. But I will try and keep checking. I have already sent all the DSN info as requested by Dean above. Please use that to set up the connection from the CF admin panel.

This is insane. It's been down for 15 hours already, and now you have to wait for Macromedia?!?! I've had to call MM support before and they were horribly unresponsive.

I need a drink.

sorry guys for stating probably the obvious and adding to the too many cooks in the kitchen theory - any updates done on the server, any hot fixes, any new sites, etc, etc that could have caused this ? How about the idea of rogue code that has a query too long for sql2000 to handle, etc. etc.??

Nope nothing changed this AM when it started. CF MX 6.1 and CF MX 7 have kind of the same issues. We are about to try installing it again, let hope it will start.

Macromedia will not even speak to us even though I just bought and paid for 7 that will not even start up. They said 1 day turn around on email support. Grrr. So we are doing everything we can to fix it. Not much we can do if when we install the service will just no start. No good errors to go by or to help in any real way.

might it not be better and easier to rebuild the box ? Have you thought of re-installing IIS ?

The box it's self is fine everything work but CF. I just found this and could be the cause and fix ( http://www.macromedia.com/cfusion/kn...fm?id=tn_19371 ) trying that right now.
