I've tried sitestudio on an existing site (my service plan) that has many sub sites and programs. I don't want to suggest this to clients without understanding it myself.
The software is great and one can do some amazing things. But it does fowl things up. For one I have php gallery running and after using sitestudio the index.php was no longer recognized and the directory became browseable. Changing directory indexes in the CP did not help. Matt in support found that my root had an .htacess with DirectoryIndex index.html as the first line which according to Matt takes precedence over the CP Configs. I did not create the file. After removal everything worked fine. So for a test, I ran sitestudio again, published and sure enough it rewrote the .htacess and put the DirectoryIndex index.html back in. Obviously this tool is for someone who will do nothing else within the domain. I'll suggest it only for 100% control of a site. #2 and I still haven't gotten an answer. The sitestudio built contact form sends its mail from "webmaster@hsphere.cc" and we don't have access to the config settings as far as I know. editing the html it writes should not be needed. |

as for #1, SiteStudio is much like Frontpage, and any other web page building tool, its designed to control the whole site, not just seperate pages. That helps it to maintain the web over all the pages. If you FTP something up to a frontpage site, chances are the Frontpage site will have some issue eventually. Same with SiteStudio. Those htaccess files can be a pain, esp with two tools like that that create them automatically. You just need to be aware of what the programs are doing.

nhdonny: Don't want to teach you how to 'suck eggs here', but I keep a domain free for testing / playing on.... (well two actually - one on UNIX and one on Windows) if you haven't got a free one to do this - you could create a sub-domain.

ROFL I created a sub account and gave it to my 16 year old son to "figure out". Still figuring (rofl) and with Marching Band season... may take some time for the results. ![]()

You can use site studio and then create your gallery in a NEW directory , then you create a link to that gallery from your site studio made site.
