internal ns sync, how long does it take?

I found out that the unix servers are using dns.vortechhosting.com to find domain names.

How much time does it take to be in sync with ns.hsphere.cc,ns1.hsphere.cc and ns2.hsphere.cc? 4 hours?

I've noticed that there is also a Mr dns2. How much time does it take for dns to be in sync with dns2 (which appeared to be synced with hsphere.cc).

This caused me quite a lot of wasted time trying to figure why the webserver was not finding another domain name...

24 hours for the internal servers, when the external ones resolve within minutes?

I did some alias changes that were quickly pickup up by the entire world, but those internal servers.

I've always had good luck with internal changes - less then 3 hours typically, and usually much more quickly.

Probably in the worst case scenario, though, 24 hours is possible.

I did get a confirmation from Craig a few days ago that there was some issue with primary DNS not updating, so I had to delete a domain and re-ad it, in which case there were ready within an hour.

Thanks for the update jmbeach, primary is the problem here and I don't know how to tell the servers to check with the other one.

maybe you are a victim of the same issue, I cannot really tell. Best is to send a TT and ask that Craig look into it (mention that he noticed the issue with me before) - then maybe he can check it out for you.

I'm not sure how else to troubleshoot it.
