When you attach an 8mb file to an email it is mime encoded which will in most cases actually increase the size of the file(s), add they header information to it and it can quite easily go over the 10mb limit. Your best bet is to get a gmail account for them to use when they want to send and receive large emails.

what is a "real" limit size so? 6 mb? just so I can tell my clients. isnt there a way of increasing it?

there is no real limit, as the encoding can differ in size depending on what you are sending. altho in most cases 6-7mb should go through fine. No unfortunatly there isnt any way of changing this as vortech set it to reduce the load on the mail servers. You only other option is to host the mail somewere else, and point the domains mx record to that other server.
