Question SpamAssasin

In the eMail section on the cPanel you can turn SpamAssassin on or off. Is there any way to tweak the filtering as about 50% of obvious spam continues to get thru.

Also on another host, which is nailing about 90% of the Spam with SpamAssassin, they only alter the subject with a pre appended {Spam?} in the subject instead of the long message each time in the body.

Is this a different version of the same program?

Likely to be the same version of SpamAssasin, there is an option in there to add text to the email subject. It's all basically driven by a config file I'm not sure though whether CPanel supports each user having their own config file (my guess is it wouldn't)

What about this Admins? Anyway we can tweak a config file?

I have seen on other threads in the forum where users are submitting message headers here to be added to some database, but this seems like a lot of manual work for both the users and the Admins. I don't think it will work in the long run as a viable solution.

Hey, there must be some smart viewers out there with some ideas to help?

Those email spam posts I believe mainly relate to the H-Sphere users, unlike Cpanel where you have one mail server per server (afaik I'm not a Cpanel customer) H-Sphere has 3 mail-servers shared between 30+ servers which means the load is a lot higher and any spam that can be trapped will help tremendously.

Thumbs up Found the Filter

Hi folks:

Maybe this is the ISP's version of "tough love" but I eventually found the user config file for spamassasin. It's the user_prefs in the .spamassasin directory. It tells you all you need to know or where to go to find out about changing the user over-rides and now I'm a happy camper again.

Well almost...
