hmm actually no scratch what i said before. 10mb is a problem. i have a client who does alot of design work and is constantly moving images back and forth via email. 20mb would be better (thats what we had his box set at before)

I easily get 1500+ emails a day from the support sytem alone , Brad getting 5000+ is no joke, I know he gets some direct, notices from servers, error messages, sales stuff sometimes, it is a bit hard to digest sometimes.

replacing just horde, if you get emails that are bigger then 10 to 15mb then you for sure should not be using webmail much less email. email servers are not made for moving big files us ftp for that.

I wonder if hte people who use email as their big file transfer would stop if they knew just how much faster it would be to do ftp or http.... Even on cable modem, it takes 2-3 minutes for 5MB email to download, when thats what.. 15 seconds on cable modem?

The POP protocol just isn't designed for large file transfers, its designed as the POST OFFICE PROTOCOL. If you want to ship a large package, go with UPS (http or fedex(ftp)! hehe

Admin, could we get a definitive answer regarding how @Mail will impact us? I have my main business email account set to 50mb because from time to time it's possible that I may have several clients send me emails with photo attachments, etc. that total up to be more than 10mb. It's not always practical to have to teach each client how to use FTP, since sometimes they're just forwarding on emails that have these attachments, and wouldn't have the first idea how to strip out the content.

Will the fact that @Mail only allows 10mb (or in my case 5mb) actually change the limit I set in HSphere, or will those higher limits still apply when I get my mail through my local mail client?

Originally no, but both the clients and mail servers have come a long way since the original POP RFC was written .. dont forget the "3" in POP3 means version 3 and its a pretty big improvement over the original specifications even if it itself is getting a little old now (circa 1996 I think for pop3).
