Question about overselling diskspace.

lets say (for example purposes) I have 300mb of disk space total in my reseller account. I sell 4 plans that all have 100mb each because I know they are only going to use 50mb... am I going over by 100 even though I know only 200mb is going to be used?

Is this for a Cpanel or H-Sphere account?

No... its based on what YOU use as a reseller not what each account uses...

Also keep in mind total disk usage is not really right on most of the time. It takes a average I think over the billing time of your reseller account.

My understanding is, you would not be charged, providing that your gamble that your client will not use all their space pays off. You are only charged for disk space "in use", not disk space that is allocated.

Same goes for transfer - you can oversell it and not pay overages provided that your clients do not actually use all of the transfer they are allocated.

thats what I was thinking too. I like that cos there are so many people who need (and use) 5mb but are all about that 250mb space
