Cold Fusion on Sub-Domains

I was wondering if accounts are charged for Cold Fusion used on a subdomain. I notice that when I create a subdomain for an account - xyx.mydomain.com - it gives the option of turning CF on or off inside that domain only.

Is that subdomain creating an additional instance of CF therefore getting us charged an extra $10 or is it just reading off the CF of the primary domain?

Thanks!

yes, each type of account is considered a full account, so you would get charged.

So long as you keep it off, you won't get charged. Beware, though, if you have customers that have access to sub-domains and CF in their CP - it could get costly very fast!

Thanks. That isn't an issue. We aren't a hosting reseller. We are a developer who manages all aspects of our clients' accounts including hosting.

But, thanks for the information and the warning. Very helpful.

definitely - you can either disable it for certain plans, or set a hard limit for your plans, or like you say, charge for it. You would just want your signups to know that sub-domains would be charged for CF if they activate it.

Just a precaution You know how customers can be - they'll argue it to death if you don't spell it out ahead of time.

...I was caught exactly by this same surprise.

I think the policy could be better advertised. Sub-domains WILL count towars your CF bill, just like a domain does.

My thinking.
