It is not possible to clean the queue while SMTP is running, otherwise we would be sending out spam, and that mail server would end up being blocked on every RBL there is.

Too many excuses too many issues about the same thing.
Email problems with our customers. They've heard it all before and I just lost a customer. This wasn't any little guy either...I had this client for 6 years. This sucks...

One problem seems to be that any legitimate email that was received seems to be lost when this happens. My clients aren't getting their emails bounced back to their customers. They just disappear.

When the error happens is there a way to immediately start bouncing emails instead of having them go to la la land?

No, I meant moving all the messages that are in the queue to another folder that isn't used to send/receive mail. Then add a batch at a time of good messages back to the queue - but I don't know if that would work either. It would get the server back online more quickly I think, buy I'm not the expert here.

WHAT!!!!!

Are you saying that valid mail is being LOST?!? It isn't getting bounced or queued up for later delivery?

Tell me that was a mistake or a joke. They can't POSSIBLY be thowing away valid email without bouncing it!

Guys I don't think you under stand how mail works.

If we have to take down SMTP ( That does incoming and outgoing ) the mail server sending it to the mail server ( If setup right ) should retry the mail again for at least 5 days. There is not much we can do if the other end is not setup to resend the emails like SMTP should this is standered for all SMTP to retry messages if not sent the first time.

I have not seen anyone make an excuse. I see them telling you what is actually happening. Would you rather they lie to you??

Thats funny coming from you when we have had to shut you down 2 times for spam issues already since you have been here.

EDIT: They may not of been from you but they did get us a lot of heat from anti-spammers because of the issue.

Ok Brad, sorry if I panicked. The way I read the above comments were that you were accepting incoming mail and then flushing the queue.

As long as the sender is being told to retry, AND if ZERO valid messages will be removed from the queue, then it will be ok in the long run.

We are only removing messages sent to the domain guia-amarilla.com so mail that was in the queue will still be there mail being sent from other servers should be resent by them to us and the mail server will take them. We have the mail server up right now but its very slow as its still deleting messages and trying to get messages out.

Its kind of coming in and out right now as we are still working to get all 300,000 message out of the queue 100% and get the senders blocked.

Well I am not Spanish but I do know that. The way you guys spell it (queue) it looks to have 2 syllables, like a darwn out southern word. And that I do know about. LoL

What kind statement is this for you to say..especially in an open forum..how unprofessional is this of you...

You also may remember that both times it had nothing to do with any of my sites, yet you shut me down anyway?

I had Brad look at that issue the first time and he made the statement that it simply doesn't make sense what is going on.

The problem is that you don't contact or communicate with any of us you just turn things off and don't turn things back on until after 10am on business work days Mon-Fri.

I understand spam is getting out of control and that "we" Vortech and OnSite are totally against spam. That's why I signed up with Vortech. Spam is making this hosting stuff not fun anymore.

I'm just sounding out loud because the email situation hasn't always been about spam. It just seems to go down at least 2-3 times a month with no care of communication. If we know of updates coming, maintenance issues etc...we would all accept this and inform our clients appropriately. Yes I did sign up with your email notification system which I received mails about the move and that was it...I haven't received anything since.

Respectively,

Also if you have not got any new notices then you may want to make sure your on the mail list http://www.vortechhosting.com/support/newsletter.html

BTW sorry about the above post.. Just getting a little pissed at this spammer..

P.S This is brad.
