unix9 has been down for about ten minutes. A technician (Sean, that is) is on his way to the DC.

...and has promptly been recalled to the office since the machine seems to have eventually recovered through our remote ministrations.

Is there a way to get every message posted in Network / Server Status by email? It's too expensive to check this forum with a phone, but costs almost nothing to check an email account.

Well technically there is actually .. you could set up an alert job in IpMonitor to send out to the mailing list, you could set it so that it only send after 15 minutes so that everyones not getting mail for reboots or other small "transient" outages.

that would not send the posts in this forum

No, but my reasoning/logic is that if your posting something in here it's probably going to be an outage of some significance, so IpMonitor would also be aware of the outage and be able to email a "heads-up" to everyone.

You'd need to be able to subscirbe to the forum rather than a thread to know about new ones wouldn't ya ? dunno if vbulletin has that feature or not

You can subscribe to a forum, but that won't send the "digest" somereseller is alluding to. The newsletter format could be posted tho to resellers via the bbs, tho right? It seems easier to do what was talked about almost a month ago. Have an alert going to the mailing list from ipmonitor. That does not take care of planned server issues, but those seem to be getting mailed out.

Yes, a mailing list from ipmonitor would be great or a rss feed of this forum, but it seems vbulletin has less features than some of its competitors. Maybe there are plugins?
Also, this bbs seems to have lots of problems with emailing, I hardly get any emails even though I subscribed to some threads. Maybe 2.3.0 has some fixes? |

We have around 1 hours 20 minutes downtime Here is log files: ppp63-spb-81-211-127-63.ppp.sovintel.spb.ru - - [21/Jul/2003:22:37:33 -0400] "GE 195.163.136.98 - - [21/Jul/2003:23:56:00 -0400] "GET /websound.js HTTP/1.0" 200 sps.infoline.tlt.ru - - [21/Jul/2003:23:56:12 -0400] "GET /dump/f40t4331.html HT sps.infoline.tlt.ru - - [21/Jul/2003:23:56:13 -0400] "GE Also customer site visitors say that between 6:00-7:00 hours (at Moscow time - it different from EDT time - + 8 hours.) our customer sites on this servers was inaccessible. Are this is result of moving servers or we have another trouble? |

Unix9 is still very slow compared to other servers and compared to its speed before moving
Specially when it comes to php scripts?? |

I think this is is not php scripts problem - only sites working with mysql database sometimes is very slow, sites which use mysql not frequently - works very fast.
