Since there is a problems with the email servers. I don't know if I will get an answer from support, so I'l post here.
A user of mine cannot connect to his accounts on mail1. This has been going on for at least 24 hours. I don't know if other users experience the same problems. |

Sorry I have not been watching the forums tonight. I have been answering tickets steady tonight. Currently, I pinged both mail servers and they are up. I recall, I pinged them both earlier to be sure they were up, and they were. Generally, I answer about 20-25 TT from 2am-10am, and so far, I have answered about 50. We are receiving the support tickets.
Have you tried sending from an off-network e-mail address? |

I can't get to the cp, nor ping the mail on any account it seems. I guess this means it is losing mail : (. It has been down for over a day, though it worked a bit last night.. Sorry for tt'ing here, I'll send one through the cp if it comes up. The accounts are:
swfhosting.com mail.debreuil.com mail.richmediabuilder.com ...and all the others in there I've tried. |

This all sounds like DNS issues, and honestly, I am not sure why they are happening, but I woudl recommend rebooting, or if on win2k plus go to the command prompt and type "ipconfig /flushdns" (thanks Brangwyn!) That will flush your local DNS cache, however your ISP might still have one.
(No IPs changed that I know of, so that i why this is so odd, but anyway, they servers are up for me, and have been all night, Evolution(unix email program like outlook) has been checking every 10 min with no errors. |

by that I meant XP as well, no it won't work on win95/98 as it doesnt have ipconfig(that I know of anyway), however winipcfg might be able to clear it, I dont have my 98 box up right now, and don't care to turn it on, I am on a unix machine that has been up for 58 days 10 hours and 41 minutes, and I really don't care for having to move to my windows machine where reboot have to come every few days ![]() |

It is all back up now - it wasn't just on our network, customers as well, so I assume it wasn't just a local problem. Anyway, it is up, so that is good - thanks if it was a fix...
I read a 5mb cap thread elsewhere, and I have to say I wouldn't mind that a bit. You can turn something like that into an asset if you set up a nice ftp drop box for customers. Also, who wants 10mb emails - it isn't good for your own machine/network either to store gigantic messages in your mail db. All that has to be repeatedlyu backed up as well... ugh. |

I still have the issue and it's not a network one. The server is found just right, but the password is rejected. It's something people have been talking about in othere threads, but this time, a "try again later" fix won't do. The mail for that one domain account have been unreachable by a desktop client for a long time now.
If someone can explain to me why this could be related to DNS issue, I'm all ear, because I don't see any reasonable DNS explanation. All of my other email accounts work just fine. It's just that one domain which is reachable by www. Last edited by somereseller : 05-31-2003 at 02:47 PM. |

It might be that they type letters offline, connect, and then send and receive. They have to receive before send in that case, or the mail times out for 20 mins or so.... I've had a few of those on dialup. Just a thought.
