Netscape Communicator 7.0 - I think it's also known as Mozilla 5 - I get a 'busy' error message (I'll post the exact message when it happens again) then when I click OK it prompts for my password again as if I had just logged in for the first time. I have to cancel as it will not accept my password, then log in again with password - then it works, until it happens again.

I've been seeing it for about the last 3 weeks. I had never seen it before that.

New mail server.... Good.
Napster.... Bad.

Landiserve: if I recall from a previous post you are unique in that your service domain is on mail and not mail1, right? I could be wrong. But maybe this is why you never see it.

Admin: I am using Mozilla Mail 1.3 and also get the "server busy" error and sometimes it forces me to re-enter my password but not always. It has probably happened 15+ times today and I have it set to check my mail every 15 minutes. I also use Outlook, and get the same errors as everybody else there.

vonbrocklin, yes my main emails are on mail, so basiclaly we know it is a server thing, not a network issue.

nigel, I believe you are a new customer, therefore you will not be on the mail server, only the mail1 server.

Thought I'd let admin know what error message I'm getting with Netscape Communicator 7:

"The PASS command did not succeed. Mail server mail1.mydomain.com responded: busy try again later!"

Then I'm prompted to re-enter my password, in which case I cannot, as it's never accepted, so I cancel, click 'get messages', and voila, I'm back in.

It's already happened twice this morning, so it looks like it'll be a busy day.

Any idea what it could be besides heavy load, as you say it's not experiencing?

I wonder if it's an imap problem. It seems the server needs to do some processing when it receives emails and that locks that account for a while (minutes).

Password Prompts

I am receiveing the password prompts as well on Outlook 2002. I have been keeping a close eye on this problem and tracking it for the past two weeks. Here is what I have found:

The password prompts begin around 8:45 AM and stop after 5:00 PM EST. This happens from Monday - Friday. It does not happen on nights and weekends.

The prompts are usually worse in the morning and taper off as the afternoon progresses and eventually ending around 5:30~6:00.

I have e-mail accounts residing on three different networks. The only accounts prompting for passwords are Matrix/Vortech accounts on Mail1.

Checking mail is like driving a stickshift.

Agreed, and this morning it is worse than ever. My mail has been open for just about three hours and out of my 12 automatic mail checks in that time I have gotten the error 8 times. Arrggh! It is especially annoying in Mozilla because it brings up three seperate prompts.

Email Problems for several days now

Yes, all the email accounts of our sites pop up or get a connection failure due to a file busy problem.
I really hope this can be fixed soon.
