comcast getting bad

Wow,, I call comcast today to advise them I am thinking about changing to sbc to get their $19.95 a month dsl offer. I ask Comcast if they would be willing to give me some promotion to stay with them.

The customer service rep checks m account and says, oh there is a problem with your account, you are only paying $42.95 per month and you should be paying $57.00 per month, we need to correct that.

So I say, let me get this straight. I call you to ask for a lower rate as I am looking at switching to SBC DLS, and you are telling me that instead you are going to raise my rate $15 per month. You have to be kidding.

She says, sorry thats our policy to correct any mistakes we find.

I told her the only mistake I made was calling you in the first place and while I appreciate your $15 raise in my price to entice me to stay with you but don't bother, I wont be around long enough to have that take effect on my account, I am going to SBC.

Then she tells me to hang on, then the phone goes dead.

Comcast you can k*$@ my A%#

Anyone have any luck with satellite high speed in the chicago area? Otherwise I will be a new SBC DSL customer next week.

I've had sbc dsl for a few years now. Only problem I ever had with them was when they changed my fixed ip's without telling me. Took about an hour to get it straightened out. Only downtime other than that has been storm related - lots of arial cable and trees in my state - perhaps a total of 2 days outage over 4-5years.

SBC folk hang around the broadbandreports.com sbc forum for my area. Good source of backdoor support.

Broadbandreports has forums for most US carriers in most areas. You might want to check them out for your short list carriers.

My mom had satellite high speed or should I say low speed. It was about as slow as a dail up. I switched her over to her local cable company.

I have used DSL, Cable, Satellite and dail up. So far nothing has come close to cable. But Comcast reps sound like a bit of an A$#. I would switch as well.

unfortunately, cable is still the best. Satellite is awful..they just recently started selling real ethernet equip. Probably, he is not getting the tv service. They supposedly give you a discount for that. It is unfortunate, but as long as they basically have no competition...they can do what they want. I think their services are way over priced. Particularly digital.

Cable broadband is hard to beat despite sharing node bandwidth with neighbors. I have had cable broadband for the past seven years and love it.

My primary source of income is my two web hosting businesses which I gladly operate daily from the comfort of my home.

I decided to take a part time job for something to do at night and put a few extra bucks in my pocket. Fortunately I landed a part time Tier II tech support position for, none other than, our local cable broadband provider; Insight Communications here in Louisville. They serve Illinois, Indiana, Ohio (RoadRunner), and Kentucky and I get calls from all over.

I work in the national call center and Tier II is the last line of support for all Insight broadband. Its great to actually get behind the iron curtain after all this time.

With employee rates of $8 mo for broadband (normally $45) for 4000/384 is awesome!
