downtime on dedicated 65.* ips
Anybody else having downtime from 65.* ip migration? The ip was changed. to 216.* My svc domain has been unavailable for at least an hr since my script notified me. I got a tt in about 45min ago, but haven't heard back yet.. Couldn't find when the dedicated ips on unix2 were changed. I saw shared ips. I am trying something w/ low ttl to see if it will help, but am not a happy camper. I checked outside my isp and it isn't resolving there either. Anybody got any info?

hello? Also why is the refresh time so high?
Appears to be resolving now. Don't know whether low ttl helped or it was corrected on their end. Last edited by mresell : 07-07-2004 at 06:49 PM. Reason: Update: |

Info here:
http://forum.vortechhosting.com/show...&threadid=8001 Also announcements were sent out. Unix2 was done June 29th, and just removed the IPs today as announced. |

I got those Bladesnitz. This was a dedicated ip for my svc domain not a shared. My nameservers have been correct for a long time. I don't understand why it would have not resolved from several places. I tried a custom A record w/ hr. ttl and as I said I don't know if that brought it back up or somethin on your end was adjusted. Essentially it shouldn't have happened. No one said anything so maybe... they don't know.

like you mentioned, i really dont know anything...
, really I dont; but I dont believe they messed with any dedicated ip addresses. I have one too for my service domain, I think most of us do that use ssl.edit here: just found this thread and I guess they are moving dedicated ip's... http://forum.vortechhosting.com/showthread.php?p=70664 still dont know anything...

I knew dedicated ips were being changed over from the 65.* because they want to get rid of that block. But unix2 wasn't listed that I saw thru all the announcements and threads. Also, it shouldn't cause downtime because it should just roll over from old to new, unless ips are yanked too soon after change (most likely).

Some of the new IP addresses on unix2 did not come up properly after a reboot. It was a networking error that could just as well have happened to the old addresses or on any other box.
