Enom Strikes Again

About every two weeks I get a client that states their site, email, everything has gone down, even though it has been running fine for some time and they've made no changes.
A quick check of DNS reveals that their domain is pointed at these Name Servers, much to the client's surprise

dns1.name-services.com. [TTL=3600]
dns2.name-services.com. [TTL=3600]
dns3.name-services.com. [TTL=3600]
dns4.name-services.com. [TTL=3600]
dns5.name-services.com. [TTL=3600]

....and a subsequent WHOIS check reveals the registrar to be ENOM, INC.

Had this only happened once, I would dismiss it as a fluke, but I see this 2 or 3 times a month. Does anyone have similar experiences or know what the deal is with them? This particular client even has the registration in "Registrar-Lock", but apparently that doesn't apply to Enom

Nope, has not happened to me. Is his domain registered with enom?

Never had it happen to me either that I'm aware of, have had domains registered with enom for a couple of years now.

I believe "Registrar-Lock" means the domain is locked by the registrar for some reason or other. Perhaps the domain was recently renewed or some other sort of problem arose from it. I doubt Enom is a registrar that will just disable domains for no good reason :/

Registrar-Lock simply prevents automated transfers of the domain to another registrar.

Hrm...

All I can say is I've never seen a domain having that issue that didn't have "Registrar-Lock" status

Register-Locked is often the default at many registrars (obviously they want to make it as hard as possible for you to transfer the domain away).

OK, thanks guys. I thought there might be a trend but perhaps it's just coincidence.
