All NT servers (except for NT10) have been upgraded to PHP 4.3.5, global error displaying is OFF I noticed on some machines it was on. If you need to display errors upload your own php.ini.

Not sure if this is related to the upgrade, but my phpbb boards are now displaying the error:
HTTP/1.1 502 Gateway Error Server: Microsoft-IIS/5.0 Date: Wed, 31 Mar 2004 17:05:04 GMT Connection: close Content-Length: 186 Content-Type: text/html CGI Timeout The specified CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process. The pages load and execute OK but they're left hanging after execution with the browser waiting for more information, eventually timing out with the above error. Do you think this could be something to do with the php upgrade (the problem seems to have coincided with this announcement). I'm on NT18 and mysql1 Do you think I should put in a support ticket for this? I'm pretty certain it isn't the code that's at fault because it was working OK yesterday and before that with no problems. |

I would recommend submitting a TT since the techs check there on a more regular basis, than here.

Thanks Vixen.
I'll give it another try and make sure it's still happening then if it is I'll submit a trouble ticket. |

Thanks lankan. I just submitted a trouble ticket and got a response literally within a minute or something from Dave, and another from dustin just after to let me know that they are working on it.
Now that's good service ! ![]() |

4.3.5 seems to have a problem with ZendOptimizer, so we're just downgrading to 4.3.4 ... still an upgrade from 4.3.2 which was what used to be on the boxes.

Could we please get a little more notification on significant changes like this?
Most of my customers php sites on Win boxes were knocked out by this update, one of them claims for at least 7-8 hours, I'd sure appreciate being able to tell my customers theres a chance of issues becuase an upgrades planned ahead of time, rather than waking up to find an inbox full of complaints from customers. |

Just tried out my phpbb and it's now loading OK and finishing the script as expected, but I'm getting the message:
Failed loading C:\Program Files\Zend\lib\ZendExtensionManager.dll at the end of the pages. This isn't a big problem, and isn't urgent (for me at least). It could be that you just haven't got it sorted yet (I'm on NT18). Just posting it here to let the support guys know incase you're not aware of it. |

It wasn't tested properly, and this should not have happened. We're sorry and working hard to bring back PHP with a proper working configuration.

PHP upgrade and magic_quotes?
One of my sites is on NT24 and when I tried to access one of my applications today I got a message that magic quotes_gpc has been turned off.
Is this deliberate, or just something that got overlooked in the PHP upgrade? If you do plan to keep them off, I (and no doubt a bunch of other customers) will need to be notified so we can upload our own php.ini files. thanks. |

I would suggest that if your app is dependent on these kind of variables that you specifically enable them via ini_set or a php.ini file, so that changes like this don't cause you problems. It may be that you are willing to risk the security of your site with such options, but our default settings will always be a little bit more secure. |

I just want to say that this will NEVER happen again, for what I took as a seemless upgrade for some bug fixes and so forth went horribly wrong. It seems that ZendOptimizer and PHP 4.3.5 don't play well together. PHP blames Zend, Zend blames PHP we'll stay at 4.3.4. As I was doing this through out the night everything seemed fine on the first few machines I upgraded. I checked to make sure webshell worked and all perms were set correctly. As people started to hit sites it went down hill until I pulled the plug and went back to 4.3.4 which on some was an upgrade from the almost year old 4.3.2. Again I just want to stress that this will never happen again. I just wanted to offer to everyone what's available out there.
