Ok..I've been working all day on the CP issue.

So far I've managed to reduce the number of rows in the database by 27% by removing old junk and psoft's temp tables (thank you so much psoft, grr). I have tweaked the CP's java cache in an effort to reduce overall off-server IO and modified the network buffers so they are more efficient. I've also run a mini-vacuum on the database to reorder the pages after removing all of that data.

There are some plans to try some more drastic network measures on the CP next week.

For what it's worth, at 11:30pm ET (when I'm writing this), the CP is moving faster on my end than I've ever seen it in all the time I've been with Vortech... so whatever you've been doing, it's working on the servers that I connect to... nice job!

Thought you should hear the kudos as well as the complaints. :-)

Just an FYI - most of my CP's are honestly flying now. However, I have been getting complaints about slowness with teh CP on NT20 hosted site. Not sure why that one customer would be having the issue, but I have it as well when I try to log into their CP.

MUCH BETTER

When I first select the email section it takes a while, but at least that part of it is what it USED to be. Everything else is faster than ever!

Thanks guys.

Becuase HSphere has to communicate with a service running on each server, chances are that services is down or not responding quick enough so it makes it look like the CP is running slow.

Gotcha... I was thinking that the CP being a machine of itself would make that a null issue. But that's not really the the way it works, huh?

Thats right, the CP still has to communicate with each server to get info from it, so thats why sometimes you'll see weird things like no disk usage displayed, or why some of your customer CP's seem to load fine yet others timeout, usually just means that the end user server isnt communicating with the CP server properly or vice versa.

Thanks guys for speeding things up.

I just finished updating some email settings. Usually this would take several cups of tea. This time I was done it seemed before I started.

Thanks!
