H-Sphere Upgrade 1/14/06 - Reseller Hosting, Shared Hosting, Dedicated Hosting by Vortech Inc.

We will be upgrading H-Sphere to 2.4.3 patch 9 starting at 2:00PM EST (19:00 GMT) on 1/14/06. All NT, CF, and MSSQL servers have already been upgraded. Tomorrow, we will be upgrading the control panel as well as all Unix web, Mail, MySQL, and PGSQL servers. Control panel access will be intermittent during the upgrade as well as other hosting services as their servers are upgraded.

Updates will be posted during the procedure.

Should users be told to backup their files? And will this upgrade affect phpbb installations?

I've lived through the other upgrades but feel this one is a little rushed...

Is this just security updates or are there any new features?

Not really rushed, we have done it a few times, there is not much we can change in the upgrade it's self anyway.

It's going to do what it does and getting psoft to change that has always been a bit hard.

Reports show the install going smooth, but that of course is not of as many systems and custom stuff done. But we know about all this custom stuff so it should be ok.

It will not affect phpbb or any user installed apps, after the upgrade new people that want phpbb and such will get a newer version is all.

NT14 is down for a long time ..does this has anything to do with the upgrade ?

Nt14 was down from at least 4:30 to 9:30 this AM ... if not this then what?

The box was being attacked it seemed, ended up being a someone thought running a HUGE counter web site on the server along with bad code was a good idea. Had about 5000 connection at a time to the counter. They are gone now.

That's crazy though using a shared servr for something like that... glad you caught them and hopefully that's going to fix the problems on this server for while at least

Windows servers have already been updated only thing left in the update is CP and unix systems. We do the windows systems the day before on small updates.

Ok - looks like my fun might have to get postponed. The upgrade script is erroring on our license. We have contacted H-Sphere support as well as some of their other officials to try and get this resolved today. If we cannot, we will have to do the upgrade another day. We will let you know either way.

Alright, PSoft has fixed the license issue, but we are out of time for today. The upgrade will be postponed until Wednesday 1/18/06.
