ISP Not seeing my website
OK, I have been doing this for a couple of years, but this one is confusing me. Perhaps the ISP (mine of course) takes abnormally long.
However, my website, Web-Hosting4u.com does not seem to resolve on DSL in North Jersey. I had a problem with my IP on Tuesday night (wednesday morning). I found it in Static, had gone back to Shared, but that took it down completely, so I went back to static. I have tried it from a few locations, and had friends try it and it works fine. If anyone does not mind, could they try and hit that link and let me know if it resolves. I know it works from AOL at this time and a couple of other providers per my friends. Thanks for any help you can provide. |

It works here in San Diego
Perhaps something to do with the power outtage in the East? Or your ISP is slow to refresh DNS. |

I am in va and www.web-hosting4u.com resolves fine. web-hosting4u.com does not. This is directly from comcast, (very sure they cache dns). Elsewhere on the web it resolves fine. I think dns needs to update, otherwise I would say check settings in cp, which can't hurt. However, just the fact that it resolves correctly in some places seems to indicate it will correct itself and that it is setup correctly.

Hi guys....I appreciate all your responses. I am using DSL from Verizon on the east and this is from before the big old power explosion here on the east coast.
It has been really weird, and one person said it might have to do with the Dedicated IP cause mail2.web-hosting4u.com is working and so is http://cp.web-hosting4u.com:8080. So, oddly enough, it just is not working. Another thing to ask you guys, I have a customer who is trying to update his names servers to ns1.web-hosting4u.com and ns.web-hosting4.com and his registrar shows the name servers as unable to verify they exist. Well, I know they exist.... could that be a propegation this as well, or something totally different? Again, many thanks for checking on this for me. |

depending on the company looking after your clients domina, you may have to register your name servers with them. just send them an email and get them to add your two server to their list of accepted name servers.

also, if you've registered your custom name servers to your own registrar within the last 7 days or so, those take longer to be registered than regular DNS propogation.

Well, they were registered on Aug. 6 or Aug. 7 so it could be going through a new thing! I am not sure.
So, tonight, the mail2.web-hosting4u.com stops working through VOL. This is getting crazy, cause now the regular site is working. I love this web stuff! |

I had a problem similar to this a little over a year ago. I don't know if you are using a DSL router for your computer, but you might consider clearing out the settings in it and re-setting it.
For a couple months, I had a domain that wouldn't resolve. My former ISP was also my former host for the site. Even though I had turned off static IP addressing in my router and turned on dynamic, apparently, the old IP address that was still in the static IP settings of my router was causing problems. A guy who had the same problem with my old host helped me figure it out. Even though those settings were disabled, somehow my little Linksys router kept using them for DNS addressing or something. As soon as I deleted the old static IP address, the problem was resolved. I don't know if this is even an issue for you, but it sure had me baffled. ![]() |

That would be great, if it was not other people who are using DSL as well. I have checked with three or four other people with DSL in my area and they all had the problem.
As of tonight, the website is resolving. I will keep an eye on it and see what happens. Like I said, now the website and panel work, but I cannot resolve mail. Go figure. I rather the website work and not the mail. Maybe in another day or so it will all go away! |
