Nice work, but with V3 being released in Q1 of 2003 is the work worth it - as I believe the template and database system for V3 is being totally revamped.

Or..... are you not planning on updating to V3? (I cant wait .... )

Just go with PHPBB2 Fully modded instead of paying to upgrade. :P

I like PHPBB2's front end but the backend is still lacking.. I like VB much better. I will wait some time before upgrading to VB3 as I am sure there will be a lot of bugs..

I was just talking about if you have to pay. vB is not bad or anything, and it certainly is not the most expensive, or resource intensive out there.

Snitz Forums

You could always go with Snitz Forums (http://forum.snitz.com/) I'm not directly involved in the project, but from what I hear its one of the best ASP forums available lots of features, a friendly community in the thousands, and best of, its totally free

I totally agree, I do all my development in PHP; in fact i had once boldy stated that I would convert the snitz forums to php, but when i looked at the amount of code (and the fact that I know little vbscript) i decided to leave it alone : )

it is a good forum though, even if it is asp... : )

but , vbulletin works great too : ) and its php.. so why change whats not broken!!

Others may want to use ASP though, and they can use forums, i think it works well on vortech's servers, we've tested it

Snitz is pretty good for ASP, you might also try MaxWebPortal for a variation of it in portal form. This is getting way off topic now......

Personally, I think that phpBB is the best piece of forum software ever made. Even though it is PHP! And I hate PHP!

I love PHPbb as well,, but how can you hate PHP? Its SOOO much better than ASP in about every way.
My board hasn't gone down or had 1 problem in about 3 months,, can't say that about a Windows/ASP app.

I prefer ASP because I started with it first. I bought a book on PHP to learn because I thought it would be useufl. But I didn't like it. They both do almost exactly the same thing anyway, people have their choice!

ASP for Windows
PHP for Unix/Linux

I prefer ASP for Windows!! But in the end, the both achieve the same thing

I can see why people like ASP, I seems easier to code,,, I just prefer the stability of Unix/Linux better,, and its FREE!
