H-Sphere 2.4 is here!!

Hey the title got you to look right..

Ok please take a little time to login and look around and report any bugs here. It would be a BIG help.

This is our new test system for H-Sphere.

H-Sphere Beta System

Login:reseller
Pass:demo1

This is a Beta/Test reseller account. You can setup accounts look around and get use to it. Once a week or so we will clean out the account and reset it up.

This is running 2.4 final. We are giving 2.4 about a week to two weeks before going live on our main system as long as no MAJOR bugs are reports to us or psoft. This will also give us time to make sure all of our custom work can be moved over smoothly.

I don't think its going to be an adequate test unless you have a windows server (and SQL Server) in the test cluster as well, not being able to create windows plans your test setup means an awful lot of things can't be tested.

We may throw a windows server into the mix... But HSphere has been backporting 2.4 stuff into the last couple version of 2.3, so there isn't such as a huge step from one to the next.

Whats in the menu depends on what you include in the plan... If you dont include something, it shouldn't be in the menu.

The API lets you do stuff to HSphere from outside the control panel... like, get account information, and possibly do stuff, like add DBs and such.

The API will let you register accounts and other niceties like Matt says, this should pave the way to being able to create your own custom signup forms finally !!

All that is cool, but if you are logging in unencrypted or are not otherwise being security conscious, be aware for those few, that this is one more thing to possibly be exploited. Altho if passes can be had you are already in a bad situation. Take proper security measures for those who are not. Most have been discussed before, but I think it is important for those who have to learn the hard way. Anything else that can be added feel free.

1. Encrypted logins

2. Seperate ftp passes vs cp passes

3. Diff passes not the same as email etc.

4. Pick passes that are hard to dictionary crack. Change them, regularly.

5. Do not leave accts unmoderated if they have no billing then keep them off. Set hard limits in plans.

6. You can use putty or other program for secure tunneling for email passes even (need SSH for this.)

7. No SSH access unless someone is screened and needs it.

8. Use seperate users for ftp than main important ones (can be a bigger problem on windows.)

9. Use sftp access when possible (need SSH again for this) or use something like winscp.

Thumbs up

This is looking much better now. When are you slating this to be released, if there are no issues?

Where can I read more about the changes I can make to the customer plan setup?

This sums it up:

Dancing Spidy History

This makes it worse:

WARNING: Earworm material of the worst kind

Back on topic:

I noticed that when you pull up user accounts in the CP, such as with a Generic search ; if you click on the Account ID in the results, it does not open a new window like 2.3x does. Any way to correct that?

Its the only bug I've found so far

Uhhh... We're still on 2.3, we haven't upgraded yet. We've noticied this though

Or are you on the Beta CP?
