Currently the databyte limit is removed and we are closely monitoring the machine.
There is a filter in place that drops any message with an exectuable attachment (.exe,.pif,.bat,.com,etc). This was necessary due to the extreme volume of mail being sent through the server. This small filter is placing a significant load on the machine, and we are working on making it more efficient and less intensive. While we are doing this, the mail process may be restarted, but no mail will be lost. If necessary, the databyte limit may be placed back onto the machine. Within a week we will be upgrading the machine to a dual P4 Xeon machine with 2-4GB of RAM to give it the horsepower necessary to filter the mail. If the upgraded machine is able to handle this small load, we may be implementing Anti-Virus scanning and spam-tagging software in the near future. |

Just so you know I just got a piece of spam with Thank You! as subject and an attachment application.pif that showed it was scanned by qmail and was clean. Obviously, I deleted it, but those filters for attachments may not be working

This really isn't anti-spam software, just so you know, it was put in place as a temp solution to stop the further spread of sobig.f as MANY isps/hosts did around the world.
