Hi, please see above post I've included a link to prices. I've seen some of your work and it's very good

The idea of the quote, is to tell you what the costs would be so that you can go to a client and say it will cost you XYZ. The quote is free.... and the idea being you can then work out 'what to charge' on top when you do go to the client.

Hope that helps

An number of resellers have asked for more information to be included on www.FirstwwwComputer.com - this has now been done and I'll follow it up very soon with some down-loadable information sheets, hand-outs for your clients (or you can simply copy and paste then on your own web pages) etc...

Obviously it's unethical of me to mention other resellers web site by name / url here. But........ I must admit, from the enquiries received I have been really impressed by the quality of sites, and the portfolios some of you have! Vortech must be the only place I know that has such a large collection of 'quality' designers... you should really show your stuff of more on here! no wonder we've got such a brilliant community

Your FAQ page just goes to the order page. I would love to see more detailed info about the actual services you provide, not just a list.

Not sure whats happening for you?

The FAQ works perfect for me - six pages all containing lots of info and a detailed over view of the services provided.

Have you tried the other link to 'Information', I've started including some general info that I intend to build on in that section.

Seems odd, I've had a number of enquires last night... a couple of which referred to the FAQ and I haven't changed added / changed anything else since.

The FAQ page itself loads with 6 bullets. But each question just goes to the order page.

Ok. I was using FireFox when that problem was happening. I used IE and I see the stuff now. May want to check into that though if you are catering to this crowd.

Garreg,

Do you have examples of sites you have done SEO work to, with the keywords that you achieved ranking with. I am very interested in this service you are offering.

Thanks.

Sure do, but as mentioned in the request for SEO work by Brad, not everyone wants their URLs or keywords made public. I will however PM you a couple....

I don't think Brad or Vixen will mind me mentioning their site, as it's published on here anyway. SpeedVixens has received no additional 'on site' tweaking or changes - just 'back end' number crunching by me. In the last week or so, it's gained 155 links in MSN, 102 additional links in Altavista, Google has seen a very small change - but, not bad for around a week, and as I say, none of the changes that I will be approaching Brad and Vixen about have been made yet.
One resellers site on here, again who I don't think will mind me mentioning it as he already has himself (though I'll let him post the URL). Had no links - anywhere... it now has, 6 links in MSN, 22 in Altavista, 22 pages indexed in Google... not a lot you may say, but we've done a complete revamp of coding, content, keywords ... links... the works so basically have started off 'new'.
In June 05 (when we started) the site received 376 page views, whilst August 05 is not quite over yet, it is has presently received 1213 pages views......

There are other resellers here receiving help with clients sites, who may wish to offer a testimonial or 'not' But I'll leave that to them

Hope thats a little help.

I've had a couple of emails from members here asking for the odd bit of help, this question has come up a couple of times, so I thought I'd share it here with everyone.
I'm asked why they keep getting hits from other web sites, yet when they check those websites there are no links back to their sites on them?

Answer: This is called 'Referrer spam'. Yes... another form of SPAM!

A good explanation can be found here -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Referer_spam

Reproduced from Wikipedia:
Quote:
Referer spam is a kind of search engine-targeted spam. The technique involves making repeated web site requests using a fake referer url pointing to a spam-advertised site. Sites that publicize their referer statistics will then also link to the spammer's site. This benefits the spammer because of the free link, and also gives the spammer's site improved search engine link placement due to link-counting algorithms that search engines use.

As with email spam, web site operators who receive unwanted referer spam may respond using filtering.

An example configuration fragment for filtering using the Apache server is as follows:
Quote:
RewriteEngine On
#a known spamming site
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://(.*\.)?egolddomain.(com|net)(/.*)?$ [NC,OR]
#various "porno" words when separated by line breaks are probably spam
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^http://.*(\b)porn(o(graph(y|er))?)?(\b).* [NC,OR]
#referer url's with excessive - characters are probably spammers
RewriteCond %{HTTP_REFERER} ^(http://www.)[a-z]+-[a-z]+- [NC,OR]
#can add as many rules as desired following the pattern of the previous line
#set an environment variable "BAD_GUY" so we can send their logs to a different file
RewriteRule ^(.*) %{HTTP_REFERER} [R=301,E=BAD_GUY:1,L]
#because we have set E=BAD_GUY above, we can do this in our log file:
CustomLog /var/log/apache/access.log combined env=!BAD_GUY
CustomLog /var/log/apache/access_bad.log combined env=BAD_GUY
The "fake" web site hits will go to access_bad.log, whereas normal traffic goes to access.log. The "RewriteCond" lines contain Regular expressions that can be used to match any undesirable traffic, thereby excluding it.

Hope that helps everyone else experiencing this (might be a good one for Vortech FAQ? : ) ).

Yeah, it should be moved to Resellers I would think. I never even noticed where it was posted.

Hello since there has been a lot of discussion about ...... SEO ... I hope I am not being rude but does vortex have a ISAPI Rewrite Filter for IIS to support SEO this would be a great boost to enabling SEO and SEF URLs I found a free ISAPI filter with source here http://cheeso.members.winisp.net/dl/...piRewriter.zip ....... I dont know how good it is. Of course there are third party components but i guess u have to buy them

Lots of resellers have asked about 'keyword' research, to help out, I've just added a free online research tool that you may use, for yourself or for helping out your clients.

The tool searches either overture or the Google sandbox (you may also select both options) and provides you with a real time list you can copy and paste. it doesn't provide the number of times a word is searched (hey I have to leave something to sell )... but it does provide excellent 'live' lists for you

Hope you find it useful -> http://www.firstwwwcomputer.com/Keywords.php
