Scheduled Maintenance 4/22/06

On Saturday 4/22/06 we will be performing scheduled maintenance on our Control Panel, SiteStudio, NT15, NT31, and NT33 servers.

Starting at 5pm EST, we will be starting an update of our Control Panel and SiteStudio servers. The CP will be updated to H-Sphere 2.4.3 Patch 11. SiteStudio will be updated to version 1.7. The CP and SiteStudio servers will be inaccessible during the update process. We expect the update to take 4 hours and be complete by 9PM EST. No web/database/mail services will be interrupted due to the update.

Starting at 8PM EST, we will be upgrading the drives on servers NT31 and NT33. The servers will be taken offline and imaged to their new larger drives. Total downtime should be less than 2 hours.

NT15 will be taken offline at 9PM while its second processor is examined. The server is currently reporting only one operating processor. Total downtime will be 30 minutes.

Does this mean that sites on NT31 and NT33 will be unavailable for two (2) hours beginning Saturday 8:00 pm EST?

Yes, that is correct.

The CP and SiteStudio maintentance is now starting. The CP will be unavailable until the update is compelte.

The CP and SiteStudio updates are complete. The CP is now 2.4.3p11 and SiteStudio is 1.7RC1.

We are still looking at the servers to make sure the update did not break anything. If anyone finds something broken, please submit a ticket to support.

We are now taking down NT33 and NT31 for maintenance.

NT31 and NT33 are done. It's later than expected but I am now going to take a look at NT15.

NT15 is back in the rack and operational. This concludes our scheduled maintenance.

I notice that after the CP upgrade the XML API is now unavailable. Is this a permanant condition, or does it just need upgraded as well?

The XML API was intentionally restricted by PSoft. They found a security vulnerability in it and the fix was to limit the IPs able to access the API. In my opinion, its a lazy patch to a system that is fundementally lacking in access level controls. For now, the API is unavailable and I would not expect it to be re-enabled until PSoft releases a patch actually fixing the API command execution bug.
