Pricing Changes to My Customers

I had a client leave today for hosting by Network Solutions, who traditionally had been one of the priciest service related to anything internet.

I noticed, their cheapest Linux plans, that they offered 1GB hard drive space and 10GB transfer, for a paltry $9.96 per month. GoDaddy is cheaper, starting at $4 per month for 500MB space and 25GB transfer. Egad!

Well, that sure beats my 100MB hard drive space and 2GB transfer for $11.95 per month that I was charging our clients for our cheapest plan.

I bumped the features on our site to compete somewhat with these firms, but I may need to drop the price. If we change the price in the plans in HSPHERE, what happens to the pricing on the accounts that currently have, where they already paid for a year? Is there a credit applied? Does nothing happen until they renew, then they see a price drop?

Also, how have other resellers combatted the "big guys with ultra cheap pricing"?

I believe they get credit on the acct. I know the other adjustments made show up. Actually here VT selling to their retail customers is alittle crazy cheap. Tho they don't give everything you get. Their starting retail plan sells transfer at cheaper than 2 of the plans here and alittle more on mb.
Just focus on svc. There is truly a falling out that will come in the tech svc industry. Technology service providers have been fussing about people like dell etc..literally driving the market into the ground. If the customer doesn't care about svc...you don't want them anyway. If they think they will get service from those people well...yeah, right. By the way any reason this is in public presales?
