sitestudio and subdomains
I attempteing a new venture and before I go any further I need two answers andI figured that the forums experts could help.
1) Is it possible to create a subdomain (abc.mydomain.com) that has a different password for ftp/frontpage/sitestudio access than another subdomain (xyz.mydomain.com)? Wanting to create several subdomains. 2) If so, how or where can I find the info to did this? Thanks, vagabras

If this is a unix account in H-Sphere, you can setup a sub ftp account that will allow access to the directory you specify. This can be found in the user control panel for the domain under FTP Manager or FTP User/Account.

no, under windows any subdomains you have under your main domain will share the ftp resources. FP and sitestudio will also share passwords.

Yes, in Unix you can create a sub ftp account under FTP Manager. When filling out the fields when adding a sub ftp account, the Relative directory will be '/xyz.mydomain.com' (without the quotes). Then you will create another sub ftp account where the relative directory will be '/abc.mydomain.com'. This will only allow them access to the directory for the subdomain.
Under Web Options for the subdomains, you can add a login for FrontPage, so that each login is different for each subdomain. But unfortunately I believe H-Sphere only allows you to use the master login for SiteStudio, so they wouldn't be able to split access to this. |
