Aliasing a domain and its email

Hi,

Somewhere (everywhere?) in the following is an error, I hope!

To move my customer base over to matrix, I used the .net version of my .com domain to create my new custom DNS records. Then I changed each client DNS to point to the new one. So far so good, and all went without a hitch as it should do.

Next, set up a domain alias. In the control panel for myNEWdomain.net, I added a domain alias called myOLDdomain.com, accepting the defaults.

Next, turned on the "Mail Domain Alias" feature for myOLDdomain.com.

Next, at my registrar's, changed the DNS record for myOLDdomain.com to point to myNEWdomain.net's DNS.

Am I right so far?

Next: edited the Mail Info settings for myNEWdomain.net, and clicked "New Mail Domain Alias". The only available domain was myOLDdomain.com, so I figured I must've got it right (assumption being the mother of all !&£^ ups)

I have a catchall mailbox on myNEWdomain.net.

SO now I send a test email (or 100), to some.email@myOLDdomail.com.

But no email arrives. (Yes, I can get email sent to myNEWdomain.net).

Where lieth my error?

PeterD

How long since you setup the .com domain alias ? it will need to propagate so could take 24-72 hours (you did update the nameservers for the alias with the registrar too yeah ?).

I actually set up the alias in the control panel a few days before switching the DNS with my registrar.

However the DNS switch was only done today so I'll wait a bit.
