You may be right,, but anything that goes on between them behind the scenes is none of our concern. What is our concern is that someone changed the DNS for their domain to point to another host and by not stepping in we are preventing that change. Legally we should not have this power.

Whether I'm right or your right doesn't matter now anyway, because EVERYONE here at Vortech thinks I'm wrong, so I'm going to go along with the rules like everyone else. From now on NO MORE involvement on our end with reseller clients.

I am just stating my opinion on the matter, so don't get offended. I know I wouldn't want someone telling me how to run my business, so I don't think it's my place to tell anyone else how to run theirs.

As for being wrong, everyone thinks I am wrong 8 days a week. LoL

Whew, at least the owners (and their families?) are open around here! They sure aren't making these decisions behind the big oak doors.

I guess the family remark was meant for me?? I work for Vortech also (billing/collections/verification).

Actually I have no idea who you are. But you have no contact info that the bottom, I thought you were just an admin on techiestalk that got moved over in the import (and then you knew some Vortech info, so I was confused). But thanks for adding your humor and business sense here.

Thumbs down

I have to say I think everytime Vixen tries to make a point, someone takes it and turns it around to exactly what she is NOT saying. It's all about business and me personally, I would not have gotten involved, I'd be afraid of someone biting my head off for deleting a customers information out of their CP, that's someones business you are messing with. In a way its a technical issue, but it's more of a business issue and thats why I would have stayed out of it.

Boy, I never expected this thread to get this far out of control

Anyway, does H-Sphere have any way to release a domain name out of the DNS without deleting the account? That may be a way to handle it in the future. That way the new host can add an account for that domain, and the old host would still have the data and it would count against their quota until they went in and deleted it.

Also, I would love for HostDime to step in and say something about the whole situation. Coincidentally, since this all went down a few days ago, DimeLive has not logged into his AIM account. Guess that means he doesn't want to discuss it. When it first happened, everytime I would log in, he would log out. Coincidence

Yeah I find it a bit 'funny' that HostDime hasn't said anything concerning the situation, at least to back himself up and give a valid reason as to why he wouldn't let the customer go.

Phew, what a thread
Its no use banging the same old drum anymore – right or wrong, what’s done is done. I originally thought that this should be discussed out of this forum, but in hind sight I’m glad it hasn’t been. Admin was right to keep it open, on a positive side I’ve learnt quite a bit from it……

Given that this may happen again – what will Vortech’s ‘official’ line next time be?

i.e. Lets say that tomorrow Gadget gets another customer from HostDime who does the same again – just for argument sake

You just want a new record for the fastest growing, longest, and most redudant thread. :P But that is a good question, from reading it think they are going to clearly state that they stay out of "resellers affairs" and that resellers should take things up among themselves, but I might be wrong.

They should have a legal problem by staying out of it though. They are refusing to add a valid customer on your request.
But in fact they probably don't because their TOS is so loose that they could anything (delete/no service, etc.) and get away with it So refusing to add your customer is not really a legal issue for them...(Might be if their TOS violates the state and/or the federal laws, but this I wouldn't know)

A way to clean up the customer's domainname from the DNS after having done some kink of reverse DNS verification would be nice.

I would think we would have a legal problem for interfering in someone else's business affairs. It's not our company, therefore it is not our place to meddle. I know you are never going to agree with that unless it happens to you instead of someone else.

BTW somerseller, do you always have to have the last word?? LoL
